CODE in MyLearning COURSE TITLE - Physician DESCRIPTION A Day In the Life of ICD-10 This course will introduce the ICD-10 classification system, explain its purpose and importance, and provide an overview of the new codes and its impact on almost all healthcare professionals. ICD-10 impacts and reaches far beyond medical coders and this course will look at each impacted population with a visual walkthrough of a facility and what each population will need to know to prepare for this transition Basic Physician Coding Strategies for ICD-10 This course provides a high-level overview of key concepts, guidelines, conventions, and rules in the ICD-10-CM code system and ones that will be vital to understand in order to choose appropriate and specific codes. The course will also provide some general instruction on how the codes are categorized and how to apply these guidelines and roles to the code selection. It will also look at some of the most impacted diagnoses, diseases, and conditions within ICD-10-CM and what new documentation practices must be adopted for successful code assignment and maximum reimbursement. It will also look at important concepts, such as Laterality, Timing, Manifestations, Stages and Scales, History, Status and signs and symptoms, and Injury documentation Documenting in ICD-10-PCS This course will provide an overview of the new documentation concepts and specificity required in ICD-10-PCS. It will also look at some of the biggest changes to documentation requirements brought forth by ICD-10-PCS and what new documentation practices must be adopted for successful code assignment and maximum reimbursement. The course will also look some of the new concepts, such as Device, Approach, and Root Operation and how these impact the additional documentation required ICD-10: Optimal Documentation for Hospitalist Medicine This course will provide an overview of the increased documentation specificity required in ICD-10 for the documentation within the specialty of Hospitalist Medicine. It will look at the most significant changes to documentation requirements within this specialty and offer specific examples of these changes. The course will also focus on some common diseases and disorders in this specialty and offer specific examples of these documentation needs within each disease in order to teach foundational documentation concepts in ICD- 10 for this specialty.
