6 officil nd or his or her designee shll not be required to give written notice prior to stopping work Sec 1472 Permits When required Any electricl contrctor who desires to erect instll enlrge lter repir remove convert or replce ny electricl system the instlltion of which is regulted by the technicl codes or to cuse ny such work to be done shll first mke ppliction to the chief building officil nd or his or her designee nd obtin the required permit for the work inclusive of the city b Permit intent An electricl permit issued shll be construed to be license to proceed with the work nd not s uthority to violte cncel lter or set side ny of the provisions of the technicl codes nor shll issunce of permit prevent the chief building officil nd or his or her designee from therefter requiring correction of errors in plns construction or violtions of this Code Every permit issued shll become invlid unless the work uthorized by such permit is commenced within six months fter its issunce or if work uthorized by such permit is suspended or bndoned for period of six months fter the time the work is commenced no refund of permit fees shll be mde The life of permit shll be 12 months Work not completed for finl inspection within this 12month period of time shll require new permit c Eligible permittee Stte licensed electricins shll be the only individuls except qulifying homeowners who shll be llowed to be issued permits for electricl work or instlltions within the city limits The stte deprtment of highwys nd trnsporttion nd the rilrod commission shll be required to obtin electricl permits for ll loctions within the city limits t no cost but re subject to inspection by the electricl inspector A list of personnel llowed to obtin electricl permits for these entities will be required by the office of the chief building officil d Emergency permit The chief building officil nd or his or her designee my issue or enforce ny rules or regultions he or she my deem necessry in grnting emergency permits e Permits issued under flse pretenses Permits issued under flse pretenses shll if discovered be cnceled t ny stge of work nd stop work order will be issued Even if the job hs been completed legl ctions will be tken ginst the permit holder nd no refund of permit fees shll be mde f Refunds for permits If before ny work is strted the owner or the permit holder determines tht work for which the permit ws issued will not be done the person who pid the permit nd inspection fees shll request tht the permit be cnceled Upon presenttion of the receipt for pyment of the permit nd correspondence stting the reson for the refund request refund will be mde The city will retin the greter of ten percent of the fee pid or nd refund the blnce to the person who pid the fees g Active permits No job my hve more thn one ctive permit t ny time except upon the specil permission of the chief building officil nd or his or her designee Any contrctor instlling n electricl system on job of ny nture must hve n electricl permit Permit chrges shll be for work done nd shll not llow for refund of ny kind h Cncelltion of permits Permits my be cnceled by the property owner generl contrctor or permitting mster electricin by giving written notice to the inspection services division of the

10 requirements For the purposes of this subsection the term imminent dnger shll men situtions where in the opinion of the chief building officil or his or her designee nd t lest one electricl inspector injury or deth to n individul or severe dmge to property or interference to the sfe nd efficient work of the fire deprtment would occur if the electricl service supply ws not immeditely removed o Mster Electricin nd Mster Sign Electricin or uthorized qulified representtive of tht business shll be present when electricl work is performed Present shll men on site in the office or vilble to be reched during construction times of when electricl work is performed Upon request of the building officil or electricl inspector mster electricins shll mke themselves vilble to meet on the job site p It shll be unlwful for ny person to cover or cuse to be covered ny prt of wiring instlltion with flooring lth wllbord or other mteril until the Electricl Inspector hs pproved the wiring instlltion in prt or s whole s required by this rticle Sec 1477 Vehicle identifiction requirements Stte electricl contrctors shll ffix the identifiction numbers nd letters on the vehicle s provided by stte lw Sec 1478 Inspection by the fire mrshl s office Inspections shll be mde by personnel of the fire mrshl s office who during the time of inspection of electricl wiring of ny nture shll be recognized ssistnts of the chief building officil Their uthority shll become the sme s tht of the electricl inspector Ech inspection mde shll seek to cuse correction of ny deficiency or violtion found Written notice will be given designting the unstisfctory condition b The prticiption of the fire mrshl s office is required in the inspections effort on ll new commercil construction the fire mrshl s office will lso mke necessry inspections during construction Acceptnce of completion by the office of the fire mrshl shll be required before issunce of certificte of occupncy c Any device relted to fire protection of ny nture shll be inspected by the office of the fire mrshl Any plns or specifictions shll be filed with the office of the chief building officil prior to instlltion of such devices Sec 1479 Provisions concerning outdoor wiring or the supply of electricity to ny structure building etc Generl It shll be unlwful for ny person firm or compny to furnish supply of electricity of ny nture to ny building tent structure equipment device or outdoor wiring of ny kind or description for which n electricl permit is required without pprovl of the chief building officil nd or his or her designee Relese for utility connection my be supplied upon completion of finl electricl inspection This does not constitute relese of the building for occupncy 1 Connection prior to finl inspection The chief building officil ndor his or her designee before the finl inspection of electricl work shll give permission to connect nd supply

11 b Specil power to ny instlltion provided the electricl service entrnce is complete in the form of either limited use of power or n erly turn on request Either of these requests must be submitted to the office of the chief building officil in writing with pproprite forms supplied by sid office with pproprite fees for these services This fee is due nd must be pid prior to connection 2 Reconnection of service Electricl service which hs been disconnected from ny pole meter loop building or structure for ny cuse whtever except for nonpyment of bills shll not be reconnected until uthorized by the chief building officil ndor his or her designee in writing 3 Temporry connection Service connections mde on temporry bsis my be disconnected by Bryn Utilities upon request of the electricl inspector without notice to the contrctor or owner of property or the user of power 4 Removl of meter sel or locking device No meter sel or locking device shll be removed prior to n electricl permit being obtined on tht ddress unless it hs been deemed n emergency by the electricl inspector or the electricl distribution deprtment 1 Violtions or unsfe conditions Upon inspection should violtions or unsfe conditions of ny nture be found connection of power will not be mde until correction of fults re mde 2 Buildings converted from one type of use to nother Buildings tht re chnged from one type of commercil opertion to nother or residentil structure which is chnged to business or commercil use or commercil usge to residentil shll be required to convert the electricl system of such building to conform to the requirements of this rticle 3 Permit for repir work No permit for repir to wiring will be issued unless such work will correct existing wiring or equipment being ltered or dded to comply with provisions for new instlltions 4 Power supply building to conform to rticle provisions Power shll not be supplied to prt or prts of ny building or premises unless ll of such building or premises hs been mde to conform with the provisions of this rticle 5 Power supply for corrections On those premises or buildings where correction is required the person mking inspections if he or she feels specil circumstnces wrrnt my llow power to remin on for n llotted time during which period correction must be completed An inspection will be mde to verify work is completed 6 Buildings subjected to dmge inspection All buildings or structures subjected to dmge such s fire explosion storm vndlism willful mischief or ccident shll require inspection by the building inspection division before clernce for power my be issued 7 Buildings moved into city The provisions of this code shll pply to ll buildings moved into or relocted in the city

12 8 Mnufctured building to be used s commercil building Any mnufctured building or portble building to be used s commercil building shll comply with ll requirements specified for commercil buildings in this rticle Exception Any building or structure tht hs n pproved stte inspection lbel shll be connected in ccordnce with its lbel 9 Commercil building used s show room or commercil office Permission to use ny commercil building s show room or mobile office during specil occsions shll be by pprovl of the building services division only 10 Wiring of privte registered fmily homes or group dy cre homes Privte registered fmily homes or group dy cre homes licensed with the stte deprtment of humn resources my be wired in Romex provided ll wiring hs grounding conductor to ll circuits nd devices Registered fmily home six children or less b Group dy cre home seven to 12 children 11 Vcted building When commercil building is vcted the electricl inspector must scertin tht there hs been no unuthorized ddition to the wiring of such building which might crete fire hzrd nd tht the wiring hs not deteriorted or become hzrdous 12 New structures New structures erected for commercil privte or public use in the city must meet the sfety requirements of existing codes or ordinnces 13 Use of plug nd cord connection The use of plug nd cord connection of equipment is limited to lod of 50 mperes Any 480volt equipment with lod exceeding 30 mperes to be cord ndplug connected shll be by specil permission of the building services division The cord must be pproved for use by the building services division t the time of inspection 14 Responsibility for corrections In those cses where nongreement occurs s to the responsibility for correction of violtion the property owner will become the person of full responsibility nd notice to comply will be given to the owners in writing Such letter or notice shll specify the time for complince nd the chnges required 15 Service moved or enlrged At the time service to residence in existence prior to the doption of this rticle is moved or enlrged the wiring in such residence must be mde to comply with this code A minimum of one duplex receptcle per 20 feet of wll spce or mjor prt thereof shll be provided 16 Hotel motel residentil dwelling unit service Every hotel motel nd residentil dwelling unit must be connected to n pproved electricl service 17 Wll switch or switching device for commercil structure or residentil storge fcility Every structure or re used for commercil purposes nd or ny residentil storge fcility shll hve dequte lighting controlled by wll switch or switching device nd minimum 120volt convenience outlet unless n exemption is grnted by the chief building officil or his or her designee
