3 National lscience Foundation AACC s MentorLinks program is funded by the National Science Foundation through the Advanced Technological Education program (ATE).

4 ATE Program TheAdvanced Technological Education (ATE) program endeavors to strengthen the skills of technicians, whose work is vitally important to the nation s prosperity and security. Two year colleges have a leadership role and work in partnership with universities, secondary schools, business/industry, and government agencies to design and carry out model workforce development initiatives.

5 MentorLinks Objectives To assist colleges in developing or strengthening technician training programs in STEM fields through mentoring, professional development, and technical assistance

6 MentorLinks Objectives To establish connections for colleges to identify new ideas, successful practices, and relationships through networking opportunities at program meetings and ATE National Conferences To help colleges gain insight about support for building and sustaining new STEM programs and strengthening gexisting programs

27 The Mentor Most importantly, Network built then among the colleges continues to connect people today, even though positions and college affiliations have changed.

28 The Process Met with Clark State representatives at the Mentorlinks conference in fall 2008 (follow up conferences in 2009 and 2010) Listened, and then reminded myself to listen again Possibilities for leveraging other opportunities began to develop

30 Mentoring Activities t Conducted job skills analysis for CSCC with regional businesses in June, 2009 o Convergence (networking) )knowledge, skills, abilities o High Performance Computing KSAs Assisted with cross reference of validated KSAs to curriculum
