7 THE SOLUTION The National STEM Consortium Cyber Technology Certificate Curriculum Mechatronics NSC Industries Environmental Technology Composite Materials National STEM Consortium Cyber Technology Electric Vehicle NSC Cyber Technology Certificate Program (30 Credits) Theory and Troubleshooting Microcomputers 1 (A+ Hardware) Theory and Troubleshooting Microcomputers 2 (A+ Software) Network Essentials (Network+) Security Fundamentals (Security+) Cisco 1: Network Fundamentals (Cisco CCNA) Cisco 2: Routing Protocols and Concepts (Cisco CCNA) Cisco 3: LAN Switching and Wireless (Cisco CCNA) Cisco 4: WAN Implementation and Support (Cisco CCNA) Cyber Capstone (hands-on, skills-based project to research, build, test, and present a network solution) Core Skills for Computing Professionals 1-3 7
8 THE SOLUTION The National STEM Consortium Programmatic Outputs Open source cybersecurity curriculum Scenario-based learning developed in collaboration with industry partners Cyber Technology curriculum is a component of the Cyber-Technology Pathways Across Maryland Consortium, a TAACCCT Round 4 Grant awarded to Montgomery College and 13 partner colleges across Maryland. Basis for the AACC/Wadhwani partnership Engaged industry partners and established relationships for future collaboration Training model that helps build both technical skills and core competencies Participant/Student Outputs As of November 2014 a total of 79 participants nation-wide have successfully completed Cyber Technology Certificate program As of November 2014 a total of 42 completers are employed I knew I'd need to adapt. So, with the help of the Veteran Rehabilitation Assistance Program, I enrolled as a full-time student at Anne Arundel Community College. I got my Associate s Degree in Business Administration, and enrolled in a special Cyber Technology program. That program allowed me to learn a new set of skills that's positioned me at the forefront of the cyber technology field that is under high demand. - Gary Pollard, NSC Cyber Tech Completer Through hard work and resilience, she s overcome the adversity. And with the Information Assurance and Security certificate she earned at AACC, today she makes $52,000 a year in a job she loves and a field she s passionate about - Sec. Perez about NSC Cyber Tech Completer 8
