1 Flying High Summer Camp 2017 Summer Camp FUN for Boys and Girls Ages 4 and up! Our 10 week flexible schedule begins Monday, June 12 th and runs through Friday, August 18 th, with 2 Extra Days August 21 st and August 22 nd. Registration begins April 3 rd. About the Camp: Your child can spend the summer staying active, learning, discovering, and making new friends! Flying High Summer Camp will provide your child with a non-stop, action-packed, fun-filled summer! Weekly activities will include: Daily Open Gym Structured Games, Sports and Other Activities Weekly Silent Reading Weekly Field Trips Weekly Specialty Classes (includes martial arts, gymnastics, art) Science Experiments Creation Station Outdoor Adventures Special Guest Instructors Pizza Pajama Party every Friday Kids wear pajamas, eat pizza, and watch a movie on the big screen! *Hours of Operation: Pick and choose between full weeks, full days, half days, and field trips days. Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from June 12 th August 22 nd (closed Monday, July 3 rd & 4 th for Independence Day) Full Day: 9:00 am 4:00 pm Half Day: 9:00am 11:30am or 1:30pm -4:00pm Field Trip Day: 9:00am-4:00pm Extended Care: Before Care: Monday Friday, 8:00am 9:00am After Care: Monday Friday, 4:00pm 5:30pm *Pre-registration is preferred so that we can staff accordingly. Registration and payment for camp must be received prior to the date your child will be attending camp to ensure availability to attend. Camp may be closed to walk-ins in order to maintain staff/child ratios.

2 *Price: All campers (full time or part time / member or non member) will be charged non-refundable administration fee of $35.00 at time of registration. Weekly Options: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-4:00pm (cost includes field trip) $230 per child/per week Daily Options: Full Day (9am-4pm) $54 per child/per day Half Day (9am-11:30am or 1:30pm-4pm) $30 per child/per day Field Trip Day (9am-4pm) $65 per child/per day Extended Care (8am-9am and 4pm-5:30pm) Before Care: NO CHARGE After Care: NO CHARGE * Price does not include lunch. Lunch packages and snack items available for purchase from the Cosmic Café. Savings: Sibling Discounts: -Sign up a 2 nd and/or 3 rd sibling and save 10% on each of those children. -Sign up a 4 th sibling and that child is FREE! Reminders: * Registration and payment is due in Full prior to children attending camp to guarantee a spot will be available for your child. * Walk-in spots may not be available on certain days to ensure that we always maintain proper staff/child ratios. Please phone ahead to make sure there is still room available. *ALL Field Trips must be Pre-Registered and Paid in FULL one week prior to Field Trip.

3 Frequently Asked Questions about Flying High Summer Camp Q. Where can I find specific information regarding all of your policies (i.e. refund policy, absence policy, discipline policy, etc.)? A. All parents will be given a Parent Handbook at the time of registration. This handbook outlines all of our summer camp policies and includes other important information. It is the parents responsibility to read the handbook and to become familiar with our policies and procedures. Q. How old does my child need to be in order to attend camp? A. All children ages 4 10 years are welcomed to join the fun. Q. Can my child attend camp if we are not members of Flying High? A. Yes! Membership is not necessary. Q. What is the staff/camper ratio? A. Our ratio is approximately 10/1-15/1 in-building and 4/1-8/1 out-of-building (depending on the activity). Q. What will my child do all day? A. Kids will be busy, busy, busy ALL day long! They will participate in activities including: group games, safe science experiments, sports, arts and crafts, gymnastics, martial arts, dance, playtime at the park, Open Gym, field trips, Pizza Pajama Party Fridays and so much more! Q. Can I request that my child be grouped with his/her friends or siblings? A. Yes. Children are normally grouped for certain activities, classes, etc. based on age (ages 4-6 and ages 7-10), but exceptions can be made. Q. When/What are the Field Trips? A. Most field trips are scheduled for Tuesdays. Examples of field trips include Oakbrook Indoor Pool and Outdoor Splash Pad, The Emerald City Children s Theater and Lincoln Park Zoo. More specific information regarding field trips will be included in our Parent Handbook. See schedule included in this packet for tentative trips. All children that attend a field trip day will be given a Flying High field trip shirt. It is REQUIRED, for safety reasons, that ALL children attending field trips wear this shirt. If your child does not wear his/her field trip shirt, he/she may not be permitted to attend the field trip. Wearing this shirt is VERY important. Q. How will I know what my child will be doing all week? A. All Summer 2017 campers (members and non members) will be required to fill out a registration form complete with an address. Through this address, you will receive a schedule of activities and important updates and reminders for the week(s) your child will be attending camp. Q. What is a Pizza Pajama Party? A. Every Friday children get to wear their pajamas ALL day! Children will participate in open gym, games, arts and crafts and will have pizza for lunch! We will spend the afternoon watching a different, age-appropriate movie every week! Pizza Pajama Party days are a great way for children to unwind and relax after an action-packed week of camp!

4 Q. What should my child wear? A. Children should wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing each day. We will be participating in activities indoors and outdoors on a daily basis. While in the building, children usually do not wear shoes. While out of the building, it is important for children to wear athletic shoes so they can walk comfortably and participate in outdoor sports and games! Please make sure your child wears athletic shoes everyday, or has a pair of athletic shoes to keep in his/her cubbie to use when needed. All children that attend a field trip day will be given a Flying High field trip shirt. It is REQUIRED, for safety reasons, that ALL children attending field trips wear this shirt. If your child does not wear his/her field trip shirt, he/she may not be permitted to attend the field trip. Wearing this shirt is VERY important. Q. What should my child bring every day? A. Each child will be given a cubby when they arrive at Flying High. This cubby will belong to the child for the entire time he/she is at camp. Children should keep a bottle of sunscreen and change of clothes (just in case!) in their cubby at all times. Children should bring a bottle of water (when going out of the building) and a bag lunch every day (except Fridays) or money to purchase lunch. A snack will be provided by Flying High each day but children are more than welcome to bring their own or to bring money to purchase one from the café. Remember, Flying High field trip shirts are required for field trip days! Q. How do I purchase lunch for my child/children from the Cosmic Café? A. If you would like to purchase a lunch package, you can do so from the Cosmic Café for $5.00. Packages include a main course, drink, side item and dessert. Payment can be made in advance via cash, credit card or check at the front desk. Cash payments may be made in the camp room when lunch order is placed. When paying with cash in the camp room, please have exact change. Change may be unavailable in the mornings. All lunch orders are placed during sign in time. Forms will be available each morning in our camp room located on the second floor. Lunch packages and other café items may also be charged to your Flying High account. Please see a staff member to set up a charge account. Snack items may also be purchased from the café via cash or Flying High charge account. Q. When is payment due? A. Payment is due before your child will begin attending summer camp. ALL payments are made at the front desk. Q. What if my child only signed up for one week but has so much fun he/she wants to come back? A. Great! You do not need to pay the supplemental insurance fee again. Simply stop at the front desk to sign up and make payment for additional days/weeks. Payment for additional weeks must be received by Monday morning of the first additional week or by the morning of for each additional day. Q. What savings are offered? A. You will receive savings if you sign up multiple siblings.

5 Q. Is before and/or after care available? A. Yes! Before Care is available Monday-Friday from 8am 9am. There is NO fee for Before Care! After Care is available Monday-Friday from 4pm 5:30pm. There is NO fee for After Care! Q: What if we are members and my child has class on a camp day? A: No problem! If your child is attending camp and has a Flying High Class any time during camp hours, our staff will be sure to get your child to and from class. Q. What is the drop-off/pick-up procedure? A. Parents will drop-off and pick-up their children in our camp room on the second floor. An adult MUST sign the child in and out of camp every day! Q. What if I have to pick up my child early? Or drop my child off late? A. Please notify the Camp Director and/or Front Desk as soon as possible. You can do so by ing mainoffice@flyinghighgym.com or calling Q. What if someone else will be picking my child up from camp? A. Please notify staff of this as soon as possible. You may leave a note for staff, tell a staff member in person at drop off, or call or as soon as possible. Children will not be released to an unauthorized pick-up person! Q. What if I am running late to pick my child up from camp? A. Please give us a courtesy call to make us aware of the situation. We will keep your child in our care until you arrive (see Parent Handbook for exceptions). Based on the situation, you may be charged a fee for the extra time. Q. What emergency procedures are in place? A. ALL Flying High staff is trained in First Aid and CPR. A first-aid kit is on site and easily accessible. Staff members carry first-aid supplies and cell phones when children are out of the building. Fire, tornado, power outage, and serious injury procedures are in place and staff is fully trained in each area. It is the parent s responsibility to provide an emergency phone contact daily. 6 What will Children Do All Summer? Below you will find the theme for each week of our summer camp program and a brief description of the activities involved. *Field trips are tentative and subject to change. Week 1 (June 12 th June 16 th ): Animal Kingdom - Lions and tigers and bears! Oh My! Come on a safari with us to the zoo and learn everything from animal calls to life at the zoo. Learn about all different habitats and animal life on our planet. *Field Trip to Lincoln Park Zoo* Week 2 (June 19 th -June 23 rd ): Aloha - Bring your leis, grass skirts, Hawaiian shirts, and coconuts for our Hawaiian Luau dance, we are celebrating our summer Hawaiian style. Campers will participate in water and land games, learn water safety, make fun beach scene crafts, and learn water science. *Field Trip to Lions Park Pool* Week 3 (June 26 th -June 30 th ): It s Fiesta Time - Ay Caramba! Join in on our celebration and let s have a FIESTA playing fiesta inspired games, and dancing to the Macarena! We will have fun learning about the Spanish culture! *Field Trip to Morton Arboretum* Week 4 (July 3 rd -July 7 th ): Game Time -Discover, laugh and grow learning traditional and new games Family Feud, Wheel of Fortune, or Jeopardy. Get active and connect with friends playing Are you Smarter than 5 th Grader or Nickelodeon s Double Dare. *Field Trip to Rolling Lanes Bowling Alley* Week 5 (July 10 th -July 14 th ): Dino World - Did you hear? A dinosaur fossil was found in our gym! What kind of dinosaur is it? How long ago did it live? We ll journey back 65 million years to learn about the time when dinosaurs roamed the earth and discover the lost world. *Field Trip to The Field Museum* Week 6 (July 17 th -July 21 st ): Barnyard Palooza - Campers learn about the life cycles and interconnected roles of farm animals. They will learn how farmers care for chickens, pigs, worms, goats, rabbits, honeybees, guinea fowl, and horse! *Field Trip to Blackberry Farm* Week 7 (July 24 th -July 28 th ): Under the Sea - Dive into ocean discovery! Explore water, sea creatures, sand and more through crafts, games, science activities and more! *Field Trip to Shedd Aquarium*

7 Week 8 (July 31 st -Aug 4 th ): Puzzle World - Logic & Strategy Games will sharpen your critical thinking skills with fun games and puzzles. Let your imagination soar! *Field Trip to DuPage Children s Museum* Week 9 (Aug 7 th -Aug 11 th ): Sports Mania - Channel your inner sports star while utilizing, this week will be about coming together as a team and developing new skills in a variety of sports (soccer, basketball, kickball and gymnastics)! *Field Trip to Sci-Tech Museum* Week 10 th (Aug 14 th -Aug 18 th ): Super Heroes -It's a bird, it's a plane, it's a SUPER camper! Show us your super powers while we explore our favorite superheroes and learn how to be a real life hero every day. *Field Trip to Adler Planetarium* Please Note: Field Trips are tentative and subject to change.
