1 Oracle Database 11g Release 2 1. Download Oracle 11 from Oracle website: We need to log in Oracle website and click Accept License Agreement option to download the software. Make sure to download and unzip both files to the same directory. See All page contains unzip instructions plus Database Client, Gateways, Grid Infrastructure, more. Here some pictures of installing Oracle 11: Step 1: provide address if needed, otherwise empty check box then go next.

3 Step 3: choose Create and configure database option:

4 Step 4: Choose desktop or server option:

5 Step 5: enter user s password: 2. Log in Oracle: Start Oracle by click on "Database Control - Orcl" under Oracle-Oradb11_Home1" folder or then click "proceed anyway. Login with username system and password is your password created as installing Oracle.

6 3. Work with tables: In order to work with tables, click on Schema tab, go to "Database Objects" category, choose "tables" link. We could create tables or search for them here. v Search for a table: table names are case insensitive (upper or lower case tables names are fine) and we could start to search with only some letters in a table name. For example, enter v or something like vid to search for VIDEO table:

7 Click on table name to see everything about the table such as column types, size, constraints, and more. We can change table info such as table name, column names, types, etc. by clicking on Edit button, then click "Apply" button to finish changes. v Create tables: click on Create button :

8 We need to decide which organization should be used to store this table in memory. For example, we ll choose "Standard" option, then click on "Continue" button. Enter table name, table fields and data types, then click OK to create the table. To create constraints such as primary keys, foreign keys, checks, etc., we could go back to edit a table by clicking on "Constraints tab or we can add constraints into a table in the creation step. We must apply every check created by choosing check name - clicking on check name option, then click "Apply" button, otherwise the checks can not be saved. To add constraints for a table, choose a table, choose "Edit " button, then click on Constraints tab, we ll see a list of constraints names in the list box. Choose what type of constraints we need to create then click Add button next to the list box. Here is a picture for adding a check constraint for Video table:

9 Here is an image of adding a check constraint on Rating column of Video table: Add a primary key constraint for Video table: Go to the list of constraint type on the right, choose PRIMARY from the list then click Add button.

10 Here is an example of making Title a primary key for Video table: If we don t give a name for the constraint, a default named will be assigned for this constraint. Here is the image of the primary key just created, please click on Apply button to make an effect. Create a foreign key constraint: We need to search for a referenced table in the system database. The right search result for a referenced Video table will be like this: SYSTEM.video. If we miss the word SYSTEM, the foreign key could not be created.

11 For example, to look up Video table, we type v in the box of referenced table, then click Go. The result will be Video and its attributes. After that, click on the image on the left of Go button to search for Video table in the system database. Then, select the referenced columns. Here is an error if we don t reference to the right Video table: So, we need to reference Video in the right place: SYSTEM.Video:

12 We can generate DDL of Video table that has just been created by choosing Generate DDL from the list of Actions, then click Go button: And, the result will be: To edit constraints or disable them, choose table-> edit -> constraints tab 4. We can enter data, write queries for tables or do more by using Oracle SQL Developer, which has been installed. Under Oracle-Oradb11_Home1 folder, open Application Development folder, the choose SQL Developer.

13 To avoid the following errors when open Oracle SQL Developer, we should install J2SE at then set Java class path first. To set Java class path, locate where your java is installed, copy the path (for example C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_03\bin), right click on My Computer or Compter -> Properties -> Advanced System Setting->Environment Variables-> find path in System variables -> Edit-> paste the Java path in variable value box. If the following missing is shown up, please go to Microsoft website and download the fixer program :

14 After we open Oracle SQL Developer successfully, we need to create a connection to connect to our database:

15 For the SID in the above picture, we can replace it with the Service name by choosing Service name option, and enter Orcl.att.net. We can find this name in the picture below:

16 We could enter data for a table: or write queries:

17 5. Remove Oracle 11: To remove Oracle from computers, we should run deinstall file. Here is an example where this file locates: C:\app\Administrator\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\deinstall.
