6 PhytoflORAL PHOTO PROTECTION & ANTI-AGING - CLINICAL STUDY EVALUATION OF UV PROTECTION POTENTIAL OF A FOOD SUPPLEMENT Aims: To evaluate skin photo-protection due to dietary consumption of PhytoflORAL To evaluate the effect of PhytoflORAL on skin quality To evaluate the subjects appreciation of PhytoflORAL efficacy and characteristics To follow the product s safety Open and intra-individual study n=22 Average age: 24±1 years old (between 20 and 40) Skin photo type II Assessment criteria -> Measurments D0, D42, D84 Dosage 5 mg/day phytoene and phytofluene -Determination of the MED and follow up of its evolution over time. -Before/ After -On the back -Measurements of skin redness with the Spectrocolorimeter -Before/After 1.25 MED irradiation -On the back -Scoring of the skin quality (dryness, roughness, suppleness, evenness of complexion, skin texture). -Subjective evaluation questionnaire. -Before/ After -on the face RESULTS - SUMMARY PhytoflORAL presented a significant photoprotective effect after 84 days of product use, highlighted by a significant increase of the Minimum Erythemal Dose (MED) after UV exposure. After 42 days of PhytoflORAL intake, the Minimum Erythemal Dose (MED) did not change. However, after 84 days of intake, the MED significantly increased, on average (+0.09 mj/cm2, so 10% increase), characterizing a photoprotective effect. This MED increase was observed in 65% of the subjects and increased 20% in average within this group. 7 INTRODUCTION Natural freeze-dried tomato powder from specially selected, non GMO tomato species rich in the colorless carotenoids phytoene and phytofluene, along with ζ-carotene. PhytoflORAL for Beauty from Within, is functional in protection against UV damage, free radical damage and undesired pigmentation. It thereby contributes to slowing down of aging and photo aging, and to the whitening/ lightening of skin via multiple functions. PhytoflORAL is a complementary oral intake product for IBR's topical use actives (IBR TCLC, IBR CLC and IBR AAC ) and a member of IBR's COLORLESS CAROTENOIDS technology, branded as IBR Phyto(flu)ene. Phytoene and phytofluene, the first carotenoid precursors in the biosynthetic pathway of other carotenoids, has un visible color, absorbing light in the UV range only.
