20 Service design approach We explored student needs through service design methodologies together with a design agency. The library was lucky to be chosen as one of four university driven projects in 2012 when Helsinki was the World Design Capital. Service design aims at designing the user experience so that the services meet both the needs of the users and attain the goals set by the service provider. Kaisa Sinikara

21 Customer profiling Customer profiling was motive-based and reflected the customer s use of the services. Therefore one person could belong to several customer profiles. Customer profiling was carried out on the basis of information gained through the probes, group discussions and observation. Four central customer profiles emerged in the course of the mapping: 1.
