1 Mustang EverReady Players Audition Packet The Wizard of Oz R.S.C. Version About The Script Like so many girls her age, little Dorothy Gale of Kansas dreams of what lies over the rainbow. One day a twister hits her farm and carries her away over the rainbow to another world. Come join Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tinman, the Cowardly Lion and Toto as they travel the universe of Dorothy s imagination. Of the two version available, SAAC is producing the one that is the more technically complex production and uses as much of the aura of the film as is possible to create in a modern theatre. It is an adaption for live stage performance, even while it strives to look and sound just like the famous film, in telling the story. Originally presented by the Royal Shakespeare Company at the Barbican Centre in London in 1987, there is more work for the chorus singers and small vocal ensembles in the music material for this version. 3 AUDITION REQUIREMENTS Auditions for The Wizard of Oz are open to all students in grades K-5 & 6, 7, and 8. Thespians & Thespian Apprentices are REQUIRED to audition. Auditions are Dec 7th. Callbacks are on the 8th. Audition Times are 4:15-5:45 in the Commons Show dates are Feb 24 th, 25 th, & 27 th at Elkins High School Auditorium at 7:00PM Preparing for your audition Bring your audition packet to Auditions You MUST have a memorized monologue (under 1 min) AND a memorized song We will be doing cold readings from the script. Think about the character and really act your piece. You will be taught a dance at auditions, please bring clothes you can move in. Dress comfortably but nicely on the day of your audition. Keep your hair out of your face. Don t wear noisy jewelry. Show up 15 minutes early for your audition. Report to the Commons. You will be given a form to fill out. Bring a writing utensil. Bring a list of any conflicts you may have between Dec 7th and Feb 27 th. (You do not need to list Student Holidays. We will not rehearse on Student Holidays.) You will write these conflicts on the back of the form you are given at auditions, or you may bring a list and the stage managers will fasten it to your form. Plan to have fun at auditions!
