2 Maine Mathematics and Science Alliance Founded in 1992 to improve mathematics and science in Maine with support from the NSF. In just over a decade, the MMSA brought over $25 million in grants and contracts into Maine to support students, teachers, schools, and districts. A portfolio of district, school and teacher improvement and material development projects in targeted areas. Our partners and collaborators ato include state and national a constituency of schools, non-profit organizations, professional associations, higher education institutions, state agencies, research laboratories, businesses, and corporations. Every middle school student visits a Maine higher education (2 or 4 year) campus once a year. Disseminate information about STEM activities in a state STEM Network web site. 2. High Quality Instruction in STEM. Examples: Hosting state STEM Summits. Support and develop a STEM network of partnerships programs. Provide STEM professional development for teachers and administrators. Provide STEM academies and regional offerings for educators, teams and schools/districts. 11
