2 What We ve Achieved Since its inception in 2003, the THSP has spearheaded many promising educational programs and helped thousands of Texas students succeed. THSP has allocated more than $346 million to support Texas education. THSP is serving more than 83,000 students in 172 schools across the state, including these initiatives: 38 Texas Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (T-STEM) academies, serving 8,218 students. 7 T-STEM Centers creating new STEM instructional materials and high quality professional development supporting 2,713 teachers. 29 Early College High School (ECHS) campuses, serving 6,900 students. 39 Small Learning Centers (SLCs) on 10 High School Redesign (HSRD) campuses and 54 High School Redesign & Restructuring (HSRR) campuses, together comprising the THSP Redesign initiative, serve 60,485 students. 28 high schools implementing the High Schools That Work (HSTW) reform design and nine middle schools implementing the Making Middle Grades Work reform design, both fostering rigorous academic and career/ technical studies. 12 New Schools/Charter Schools (NSCS), serving 7,400 students. 28 Exemplar programs at high schools and college campuses statewide sharing best practices on college readiness and supporting 3,000 on-site visitors. A majority of THSP students are from populations traditionally under-represented in higher education from 96% Hispanic or African American in HSRD and NSCS programs, to 62% in T-STEM programs; and 69% of students across all programs open since qualify as economically disadvantaged. THSP has developed school models that exhibit Accountability Ratings and Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) scores that are higher than the state average.

3 Where We re Headed Moving forward, the Texas High School Project is poised to expand its impact and sharpen its focus to help prepare Texas students for future success. We will: Significantly improve the postsecondary readiness of low-income students, with a focus on students in low-performing schools. Gather evidence and analyze data to develop practical insights and proven solutions that can be scaled to schools statewide. Extend our focus beyond high school, to include the transition from middle school and the transition to postsecondary programs, including four-year, two-year and technical programs. THSP s mission is to improve the postsecondary readiness of low-income students in schools and districts throughout Texas. Applying practical insights and proven solutions, THSP significantly impacts the transition from middle school through high school and into postsecondary programs. Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT) serves as the coordinating intermediary for the public-private alliance and manages the majority of the private philanthropic investments. State and federal investments in Texas schools are managed by TEA.
