2 DAYS SPEAKERS START-UPS PARTICIPANTS As the organiser of the 8th European Economic Congress, PTWP Group proposes a new, special event accompanying the Congress, to be called European Start-up Days. In terms of its form and content this will be a unique meeting of people who are interested in the development of young, innovative, creative Polish entrepreneurship. The event combines an innovative formula: key addresses and interaction with participants, elements of entertainment and unusual promotion of young, Polish businesses. Start-ups have been present on the Polish entrepreneurial scene for years. What is a recent phenomenon is the unusually dynamic development of young, mainly self-financing firms based on an innovative product upgrading existing technologies. Corporations are looking for innovations, new energy and ideas for the future and a model for competing in a world that is changing ever more rapidly. Start-ups are organisations whose aim is scaling up quickly, but for that they require partners who can offer them a global market and experience. These two worlds, I believe, have not yet found an ideal form of cooperation, neither in Poland, nor globally. That is why we are creating this event at least to partly help in working out such a model, and to provide corporations and start-ups, and thus Poland and Europe, too, with a chance for faster growth. DARIUSZ ŻUK, CEO, POL SK A PRZEDSIĘBIORCZA It is worth noting the enormous potential inherent in this phenomenon and of the young people who develop new, flexible economic enterprises focused on quick growth based on knowledge, unique skills and technologies. Thus there is merit not only in supporting start-ups themselves, but also those who actively back this trend. In order to develop, young and dynamic private companies need stable financing and clear paths to commercialise their ideas, and therefore cooperation with an economically stronger partner. It may turn out to be reasonable and effective to directly match innovative start-ups with strong and stable companies that offer investment potential. The European Economic Congress (EEC), which is attended by a multitude of companies that are open to new technologies and ideas, is an exceptional opportunity to initiate such relations. Combining two worlds: people with passion, energy and ideas with those who have money, resources and clients may be the impulse that will push the Polish economy onto a track of commercialised innovation that is implemented in the real world.
