1 Harry May CLASS OF 1962 Basketball: Two Varsity Letters Baseball: Three Varsity Letters Harry May, class of 1962, participated in baseball, basketball and football at MCHS and earned allconference honors in baseball. He attended Culver-Stockton College where he starred in baseball for four years and led the team in batting average, total bases, stolen bases and extra base hits. He was also an allconference selection twice. Harry is a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters Hall of Fame. He played with the Johnsburg Tiger baseball team from 1962 to He coached football, basketball and track at Johnsburg Junior High School for seven years and served as the Athletic Director during that period. Harry also played competitive softball with Hiller & Hamm which won numerous state championships.

2 Erica Jean Watson Borggren CLASS OF 1998 Tennis: Four Varsity Letters Badminton: One Varsity Letter Erica was a four year varsity tennis player at MCHS. She played No. 1 singles each of those years and never lost a Fox Valley Conference match. She also won Sectionals her sophomore, junior and senior years as she qualified for State each season. In 1997 Erica won the Tom Pitchford Sportsmanship Award and was All-State Honorable Mention the following year. Accepted into West Point, Erica was singles and doubles player for three years. Transferring to Oxford University in England, Erica played on their Lawn Tennis Squad in and was awarded Most Valuable Player.

3 Bill Oeffling CLASS OF 1960 Football: One Varsity Letter Basketball: Two Varsity Letters Baseball: Two Varsity Letters Bill Oeffling, class of 1960, participated in cross country, football, baseball and basketball at MCHS, and earned all-conference honors in football, baseball and basketball. He played on the North Suburban Conference championship basketball team in After high school Bill was named to numerous all-star teams in basketball and softball and is in the Catholic Order of Foresters Basketball Hall of Fame. He was the 1973 batting champion at the Wisconsin state softball championships plus was named to the All-State teams 71, 73, 75 and 76. Bill played and managed 11 league championship teams and 10 playoff championship teams with Hettermann s 16 softball club.

4 Tim Jacobs CLASS OF 1996 Golf: Four Varsity Letters Baseball: One Varsity Letter Timothy Jacobs, class of 1996, was a varsity player in both golf and baseball at MCHS. For four years he was McHenry s most valuable golfer. He was a two-time conference champion, twice was the Northwest Herald s Player of the Year and twice earned a berth in the state championships. He attended Marquette University on a Chick Evans Scholarship where he was a four-year letterman, captain and MVP of the golf team and was named Conference USA player of the week in He also qualified for the US Jr. Amateur championships and the US Golf Association Amateur. Tim won two medals as low qualifier at the USGA sectionals. He placed second in the 98 Illinois State Amateur Tournament and in the top ten at the 96 Western Jr. Amateur.

5 Ryan Shanahan CLASS OF 1992 Boys Swimming: Four Varsity Letters Water Polo: Four Varsity Letters Ryan was an exceptional swimmer for each of the four years he attended McHenry High School. Ryan was voted by conference coaches as Fox Valley MVP Swimmer in the years 90, 91, and 92. Ryan was Sectional Champion and State Qualifier in the years 90, 91, 92 and placed seventh in the State Finals Individual Medley in As a Water Polo star Ryan was selected All-State third team in 1990, second team in 1991 and first team in From , Ryan swam for Western Illinois and helped lead them to four straight conference championships. During that time he was elected team captain (2 years) and broke school records in the 200, 500 and 1000 freestyle events. Ryan was chosen the Speedo Midwest Swimmer of the Year in 1996.

6 Ian Shanahan CLASS OF 1997 Boys Swimming: Four Varsity Letters Water Polo: Four Varsity Letters Ian was a standout performer in McHenry Water Polo. He led the Warriors in scoring and is still the alltime leading scorer. He was chosen All-State in Water Polo in 95, 96 and 97. While participating on the swim team Ian swam the 50 and 100 yard freestyle events plus the butterfly. After high school Ian went to Western Illinois University where he swam for the Water Polo Team and was named the Midwest Zone Speedo Water Polo Player of the Year He currently coaches swimming at Woodstock HS.

7 Nicole Marzano Jordan CLASS OF 2001 Basketball: Four Varsity Letters Softball: Four Varsity Letters Nicole was brought up to the girls Varsity Basketball team as a freshman and earned four varsity letters plus All-Conference honors in two of those years. She scored over 1000 points during her four seasons as point guard. Nicole was named All-Conference during every softball season at MCHS where she pitched the Warriors into the State Playoffs. After high school Nicole played Division One Softball at Oakland University in Michigan for four seasons. In her first two seasons Nicole was named First Team All- Conference in the Mid-Continent Conference. She led her team to their first ever Conference Championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance and was named Pitcher of the Year in the Conference, all in her sophomore year. Nicole was named on Second Team All-Conference her junior year.

8 Alexis Watson Perley CLASS OF 2000 Tennis: Four Varsity Letters Track: Two Varsity Letters Alexis was a standout Varsity Tennis player for each of the four years she spent at MCHS. Her first two years, as No. 2 singles, she lost only to her older sister in the Sectionals. In four years Alexis never lost a Fox Valley match, won two Sectional Titles her junior and senior years and was a State qualifier all four years. After high school Alexis played four Varsity seasons at Division I University of Wisconsin at Green Bay on a full scholarship. While at Green Bay she was a two-time NCAA qualifier, Team Captain her senior year and member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee.

9 Earle Coop Cooper Athletic Trainer Earle Cooper, known to everyone at MCHS simply as Coop, was the athletic trainer at McHenry HS for all sports from , many of those early years as a volunteer. Earle Cooper looked after Warrior athletes as if they were his own children. In his time, Coop probably used enough tape to circle the globe as a trainer for the Warriors. 10 Coach Mike Sonny Shanahan Head Girls Swimming Head Boys Swimming Head Boys Water Polo ACCOMPLISHMENTS Water Polo 3rd Place State 1978 Water Polo 4th Place State 1988 Water Polo Coach of the Year 1988 Water Polo Hall of Fame 1990 Mike Shanahan came to McHenry High School after four years at Western Illinois University as a swimmer and water polo athlete captain of each team. After 3 seasons as a coach at other schools he landed in McHenry where he coached all swim teams. During that time he coached an All-State swimmer, an All-State water polo player, 18 State girls swim qualifiers and 15 State boys swim qualifiers.
