Planning phase Click on System Configuration Checker to check our system for any problems that may prevent SQL 2008 from installing/working. 16 3 Configuration SQL Server Express Additional tool SQL Server Configuration Manager It is possible that during the installation of AppliDis, the database server is not detected. This might be the case if the server is unable to create the ODBC link towards the database server. After the installation of SQLEXPRESS, it is necessary to modify some parameters in SQL Server Configuration Manager. In the menu, select SAL Server Network Configuration then Protocols for MSSQLSERVER (The name of your instance). You then need to enable both the Named Pipes and TCP/IP. Finally you need to restart the SQL service for the changes to take effect. The tool SQL Server Management Studio Express can be used to manage the databases hosted on the SQL Server Express You will find this tool to download for free on the Microsoft website.
