Chapter 6 Precautions for use SQL Server 2005/2008/2008 R2 Express Edition In SQL Server 2005/2008/2008 R2 Express Edition, the database size is limited. This limitation can prevent RadiNET Pro from writing data to the database. This section describes the SQL Server 2005/2008/2008 R2 Express Edition limitation and how to deal with it SQL Server 2005/2008/2008 R2 Express Edition Limitation With SQL Server 2005/2008/2008 R2 Express Edition, the database size that can be used by RadiNET Pro is limited to 4 GB (SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition: 10GB). When the limit is reached, RadiNET Pro can no longer write data to the database. RadiNET Pro does not issue any special warning in this case, but SQLServer records an error in the event log Monitoring the Database Size with RadiNET Pro Exclusively when SQL Server 2005 Express Edition or SQL Server 2008/2008 R2 Express Edition is used, RadiNET Pro monitors the database size and issues a warning to the administrator when it exceeds a set standard. Warning Method Warning Message on Management Console When the specified database size (warning value) is exceeded, the following warning message is displayed on the management console after login. The message is displayed again if more than a day has elapsed since the last management console access. Warning Message by When the specified database size (warning value) is exceeded, the following is sent to the address(es) registered in the RadiNET Pro notification function. 212 Chapter 6 Precautions for use SQL Server 2005/2008/2008 R2 Express Edition

6-3. Changing the Warning Value When SQL Server 2005 Express Edition or SQL Server 2008/2008 R2 Express Edition is used, RadiNET Pro issues a warning when the specified database size (warning value) is exceeded. This section describes how to change the warning value. Procedure 1. Using a text editor, open the file DBSizeAlertConfig.org in the RadiNET Pro install folder ( C:\Program Files\EIZO\RadiNETProEnterpriseService is used here). If the read-only attribute is enabled for the file, disable it. 2. Change the value between <limitsize> - </limitsize> to the warning value. 3. After editing, change the file name to DBSizeAlertConfig.xml and save it in the same path as DBSizeAlertConfig.org. Attention When the database size reaches 4 GB for SQL Server 2005 Express Edition or 10 GB for SQL Server 2008 Express Edition, RadiNET Pro can no longer write data to the database, so appropriate measures should be taken early. When the DBSizeAlertConfig.xml file is not included, a warning will be issued if the database size exceeds 3584 MB for SQL Server 2008 Express Edition and earlier or 9728 MB for SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition and later. 4. Restart Windows Eliminating the Database Size Limitation To eliminate the database size limitation, it is necessary to upgrade to SQL Server 2005/2008/2008 R2 Standard Edition or SQL Server 2005/2008/2008 R2 Workgroup Edition. About how to upgrade, refer to Chapter 7 Changing SQL Server 2005/2008/2008 R2 Edition (page 214). Chapter 6 Precautions for use SQL Server 2005/2008/2008 R2 Express Edition 213

Chapter 10 About License About Windows Server CAL (Client Access License) If you are using Windows Server 2003/2008, you need to have Client Access License (CAL). If purchasing a new CAL, it is recommended that you use the Per Server Mode to reduce the number of CALs to be purchased. However, the requirements depend on your system configuration so please purchase CALs to suit your system configuration. In the environment where you are going to deploy a RadiNET Pro server, if all RadiCS computers have Device CAL, there is no need for new Windows Server CAL. The RadiNET Pro system has a restriction on the number of simultaneous connections. You need to purchase the same number of Windows Server CALs as the number of simultaneous connections. See Changing the Number of Simultaneous Connections (page 249) for details on how to change the number of simultaneous connections. (The default value for the number of simultaneous connections is five.) Chapter 10 About License 245

Per Server Mode Windows Server comes with Windows Server CAL. The number of CALs determines the number of devices or users that can access it simultaneously. ex.) If Windows Server comes with five Windows Server CALs, then five clients can be used to access it. The 6th client cannot access Windows Server until one of the five clients is disconnected. Per Device Mode When using the client computer to which installed Windows Server CAL, any number of users can access Windows Server. Also, multiple Windows Servers can be accessed. 246 Chapter 10 About License

10-2. About SQL Server License You need to have a license in accordance with Microsoft licensing in order to use SQL Server. Please obtain the correct license for your system configuration. The RadiNET Pro system has a restriction on the number of simultaneous connections. You need to purchase the same number of SQL Server CALs as the number of simultaneous connections. See Changing the Number of Simultaneous Connections (page 249) for details on how to change the number of simultaneous connections. (The default value for the number of simultaneous connections is five.) You cannot use User CAL in RadiNET Pro system. SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP2 and SQL Server 2008 Express Edition are free database packages that do not require a license. Upgrading to SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition or SQL Server 2005 Workgroup Edition from SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP2 requires a license. Upgrading to SQL Server 2008/2008 R2 Standard Edition or SQL Server 2008/2008 R2 Workgroup Edition from SQL Server 2008/2008 R2 Express Edition requires a license. Processor license Server / CAL license The number of licenses required is the same number of CPUs on the server to which SQL Server is installed. Multi-core CPUs are treated as a single CPU. The licenses are independent of the number of RadiCS computers. Device CAL (Client Access License) A server license is required for the server on which SQL Server is installed. Client computers that use the server on which SQL Server is installed require a device CAL. Client computers with a device CAL can utilize multiple different servers with SQL Server installed. Depending on the number of client computers, this option may be cheaper than a processor license. Difference between SQL Server CAL and SQL Server Workgroup Edition CAL SQL Server CAL Can connect regardless of edition. SQL Server Workgroup Edition CAL Can only connect to Workgroup Edition. Chapter 10 About License 247

Processor License A processor license is required for each CPU on the server on which SQL Server is installed. As the above system has three CPUs, three processor licenses are required. Server / CAL License Device CAL A server license is required for the server on which SQL Server is installed. Client computers that use the server on which SQL Server is installed require a device CAL. Client computers with a device CAL can utilize multiple different servers with SQL Server installed. 248 Chapter 10 About License

10-3. Changing the Number of Simultaneous Connections The RadiNET Pro server has a restriction on the number of simultaneous connections from RadiCS computers. This section describes how to change the number of simultaneous connections. Attention If you increase the number of simultaneous connections, the time required for remote operations from RadiCS computers will become shorter. However, as you can only specify as many simultaneous connections as you have Windows Server CALs, please check how many CALs you have. The maximum number of simultaneous connections is 20. Procedure 1. Open the RadiNETPro.exe.config file in an editor. The RadiNETPro.exe.config file is located in the following folder. ex.: C:\Program Files\EIZO\RadiNETProGW\ini\GatewaySetting.xml 2. Find the following setting and change the value. Setting to change: <maxconnection> value / </maxconnection>. The default value is 5. Chapter 10 About License 249

Chapter 11 Assigning Data Storage Areas Refer to the following information to assign data storage areas Data Area for Database RadiNET Pro stores the following types of data. Data file (RadiNETPro40.mdf): 4,096KB Log file (RadiNETPro40_log.ldf): 1,024KB History registration data The volume of data per history generated when history is registered. The volume of history registration data: 100KB Data Area for Files Lifetime Expectancy Analyzer data file The volume of data generated when a brightness check/grayscale check is performed at a RadiCS computer. Lifetime Expectancy Analyzer data file: 2.5KB Application log file Ten log files are used in rotation. As old files are overwritten, the data volume will not increase. Application log file: 100MB (max) 250 Chapter 11 Assigning Data Storage Areas

11-3. Example on How to Calculate the Increase in the Volume of RadiNET Pro Data Assuming that the following management schedule are used in the following computer and monitor environment, you can use the following method to calculate the logical value of data volume of RadiNET Pro accumulated in a year. (ex.) Computer environment Number of RadiCS computers: 100 Number of Monitors: 200 Management schedule Event name Execution frequency Number of executions per year Hands-off Check Once per month 12 Hands-on Check Once per month 12 Calibration Once per 6 months 2 Visual Check Once per week 52 Constancy test Once per 6 months 2 Acceptance test Once per year 1 Lifetime Expectancy Analyzer (LEA) 3 times per month 36 History data 81 (occurrences) Lifetime Expectancy Analyzer (LEA) 36 (occurrences) History data = 100 (KB) x 81 (occurrences) x 200 (units) = 1,620,000 (KB) Lifetime Expectancy Analyzer (LEA) = 2.5 (KB) x 36 (occurrences) x 200(units) = 18,000 (KB) History data + Lifetime Expectancy Analyzer (LEA) = 1,638,000 (KB) = (GB) The volume of history data is increasing approx GB for a year. Chapter 11 Assigning Data Storage Areas 251
