Effective tension measurement is therefore important for the result, both in terms of quality and quantity. This applies to paper and board as well as wire and felt. The PillowBlock Tensiometer System from ABB is the perfect answer for all these applications. The PillowBlock Tensiometer System has modern signal processing electronics. This makes for easier measurement, partly because it offers several signal outputs. The PillowBlock Tensiometer System permit direct measurement and control of the tension and is easy to install in the process. With continuous direct measurement by PillowBlock Tensiometer Systems in a process, the web tension can be kept constant, even during transitions from one operating mode to another. This type of load cell is in many ways unique, mainly as a result of its combination of accuracy, overload capacity and ability to withstand severe environments. In PillowBlock Tensiometer Load Cells this principle has been developed and adapted to correspond to the special requirements of web tension measurement. This is why the transducer in a PillowBlock Tensiometer Load Cell is sensitive only in the direction of measurement. No moving parts There are no moving parts in a PillowBlock Tensiometer Load Cell at maximum deflection it is compressed by only a few hundredth of a millimetre! The rigidity of the load cell overcomes the risk of critical speeds adversely affecting the measurement results. The load cell is also totally insensitive to electrical interference from the mains. Easy to install many alternative mounting arrangements Normally the load cells are installed immediately below the two bearing housings of the roll. Often they can be fitted directly to an existing machine. Major modifications are seldom required. Load cells do not have to be mounted horizontally. You can choose the position and orientation of the load cells, disregarding any tilt. Even where the load cell is affected by the weight of the deflector roll it is perfectly possible to obtain a reliable measurement result. Due to the Pressductor Technology the characteristics of the load cell do not change during operation, which means that no regular recalibration is necessary. 7.
