1 Using PeopleSoft erecruit for Online Employment Applications March 2009

2 New Castle County Homepage From the New Castle County Homepage, click on the Employment link from the list of County Quick Links to access the Human Resources section of the website.

3 New Castle County Employment Page The Employment page contains information on employment with New Castle County and links to additional resources such as benefits and career opportunities with New Castle County Police and Emergency Medical Services.

4 Searching/Applying for Job Openings To search current job openings, click the Search/Apply for Jobs link. This will take you into our PeopleSoft erecruit system that you will use to create and submit an online application.

5 Registering to use PeopleSoft erecruit On the PeopleSoft Careers page, you will first need to Register by creating a User Name and Password. To do so, click on the click here to Register link. *IMPORTANT: You must create a User Name and Password in order to apply online.

6 Registering to use PeopleSoft erecruit Enter a unique User Name and Password, re-enter the password, and then click the Register button. *Note: Passwords are case sensitive, but User Names are not. *IMPORTANT: Be sure to keep a record of your User Name and Password for completing future online applications.

7 Creating Your erecruit Profile Once you have logged in, you will be taken to the Careers Home page. Here you must create your Profile by clicking on the My Profile link. *IMPORTANT: If you do not create your Profile, your application will be rejected.

8 Creating Your erecruit Profile Create your Profile by entering the required name, address, , and phone information in the corresponding fields, and then click the Save button at the bottom. *IMPORTANT: Include as much contact information as possible in your Profile.

9 Once you have saved your Profile, you will be returned to the Careers Home page. Here you will be able to view active Job Postings and apply for any that you are interested in. Click on the job title of any listed job to view full details including application deadline (if any), salary, job duties, and minimum qualifications. Searching for Jobs

10 Reviewing a Job Description Once you have reviewed the details of the job, you may save it to view again later by clicking the Save Job button, you may apply by clicking the Apply Now button, or you may return to the previous page (Careers Home).

11 Applying/Completing the Application On the Careers Home page, you may apply for multiple Job Postings with a single online application if you wish. To do so, click the box under Select for each job title you wish to apply for and then click on the Apply Now button. *Note: When applying for multiple Job Postings with a single online application, the application information will be identical for all postings.

12 Applying/Completing the Application Once you have clicked on the Apply Now button, you will be taken to the Complete Application page. Here you will begin to complete the full online application.

13 Applying/Completing the Application *IMPORTANT: You must complete the full application in order to apply for the job. Incomplete applications will be rejected.

14 Applying/Completing the Application Application Type will default to Open Application for all external applicants. Do not select any other application type.

15 *IMPORTANT: Work Experience is used to determine job qualifications. You MUST add work experience unless you check the box indicating that you do not have any prior work experience. Click the Add Work Experience link to begin. Work Experience

16 Entering Employment History Begin with your current or most recent employer and enter your employment details. Fields marked with an asterisk are required.

17 Entering Employment History Fill in all details, and then click the Save & Return button to go back to the job application -ORclick the Save & Add More to add additional employment history.

18 Entering Employment History Once you have entered all work experience, you will be taken back to the Application page where it is now listed in the Work Experience box.

19 Note: This would be a good time to click on the Save for Later button at the top or bottom of the page. Doing so will ensure that all the information entered thus far will not be lost in the event a power failure, lost internet connection, etc.). Saving Your Information

20 *IMPORTANT: Education History is used to determine job qualifications. Missing or incomplete education history could result in non-qualification and/or rejection of your application. First, select your Highest Education Level from the list. Education History

21 Education History - Entering Primary/Secondary Education Next, click the Add Primary and Secondary Education History link to add education details through the high school level.

22 Education History - Entering Primary/Secondary Education Select the appropriate Country, School Type, State, and Level Achieved using the drop-down arrows; also type the School Name in the corresponding field. Then, click the Save & Return button or the Save & Add More button to add additional schools.

23 Education History - Entering Primary/Secondary Education Once you have entered all primary and secondary education (through the high school level), you will be taken back to the Application page where it is now listed in the Primary/Secondary box.

24 Education History - Entering Post-Secondary Education Next, click the Add Post- Secondary Education History link to add education details for schools attended at the post-high school level as detailed on the next few slides.

25 Education History - Entering Post-Secondary Education First, choose the country where the school is located. For schools in the United States, type USA in the Country field and hit enter or tab. You will now be able to select the state where the school is located from the list.

26 Education History - Entering Post-Secondary Education Once you have selected the state, click on your school from the list of schools located in that state. If your school is not listed, you may type it into the Other field. Note: Some schools have multiple campus locations that are listed individually, so be sure that you choose the correct one from the list.

27 Education History - Entering Post-Secondary Education Once you have selected the school, click on the magnifying glass icon to view a list of Majors and select the one most similar to your major at that school. Additional details on selecting majors are provided on slides

28 Education History - Entering Post-Secondary Education The list of Majors may be sorted alphabetically by clicking on Description at the top of the list and then clicking View All. You may now click on the appropriate major from the choices listed and it will appear as your selection for the selected school.

29 Education History - Entering Post-Secondary Education You may also search the list of Majors by selecting Description from the Search by box and then typing in the first letter(s) of the major you wish to find and clicking the Look Up button.

30 Education History - Entering Post-Secondary Education You may now click on the appropriate major from the choices listed and it will appear as your selection for the selected school. Note: If your specific major is not listed, you may type it into the Other field (see next page).

31 Education History - Entering Post-Secondary Education If your specific major is not listed, you may type it into the Other field. Once you have selected the major, click on the dropdown arrow for Degrees and select the one most similar to the level you achieved at that school.

32 Education History - Entering Post-Secondary Education Once you have selected the Degree level, click the Save & Return button to go back to the job application -ORclick the Save & Add More button to add information for additional postsecondary schools until you have finished entering your Education History.

33 Upon returning to the Complete Application page, this would be a good time to click on the Save for Later button at the top or bottom of the page. Doing so will ensure that all the information entered thus far will not be lost. Saving Your Information

34 Job Training Next, click the Add Job Training link to enter any relevant training courses you have taken. Type in the Course Title, School Name, and Course Start in the corresponding fields and click the Save & Return button or the Save & Add More button to add additional job training.

35 Once you have entered all relevant job training, you will be taken back to the Application page where it is now listed in the Training box. Job Training

36 Licenses and Certificates Next, click the Add Licenses and Certificates link to enter any relevant licenses and/or certificates you possess by selecting the appropriate license/certificate using the drop-down arrow. Then, complete the remaining fields and click the Save & Return button or the Save & Add More button to add additional entries.

37 Entering Licenses and Certificates Note: If a specific type of driver s license is a requirement for the job that you are applying for, this is where you should enter it. Once you have entered all relevant licenses and certificates, you will be taken back to the Application page where they are now listed in the Licenses and Certificates box.

38 Languages, Memberships, Honors and Awards The remaining sections of the application are Languages, Memberships, and Honors and Awards. These sections may be completed in the same manner as the Licenses and Certificates section. After entering information in each, click the Save & Return button or the Save & Add More button to add additional entries.

39 Upon returning to the Complete Application page, this would be a good time to click on the Save for Later button at the top or bottom of the page. Doing so will ensure that all the information entered thus far will not be lost. Saving Your Application

40 Once you have completed and saved the Education and Work Experience portion of the application, you may proceed to the Referral Information portion by clicking on the Referral Information link at the bottom of the page. Referral Information

41 Entering Referral Information In order to help New Castle County identify the source of our applicants, please complete the Referral Information section by selecting the appropriate referral source by clicking on the drop-down arrow next to How did you find out about the job?.

42 Entering Referral Information Next, choose the appropriate subsource for your selection using the drop-down arrow next to Subsource and also typing in a Specific Referral Source if applicable. Lastly, indicate if you are a former New Castle County employee by clicking the appropriate circle.

43 Applying/Submitting the Application At this point you may choose to submit the application by clicking the Apply Now button, or save it to submit at another time by clicking the Save for Later button. If you click on the Apply Now button, you will be taken to the Submit Online Application page.

44 Self Identification Details If you wish to provide your Self Identification Details, select your Gender and Ethnic Group using the dropdown arrow for each. If you choose not to provide this information, just click the box to decline. Next, read the Terms and Agreements carefully, and then click the button on the left if you agree to the terms. *IMPORTANT: If you do not agree to the terms, you will not be able to submit your application.

45 Submitting the Application After you click the button that you agree to the terms, click the Submit button to complete the online application and apply for the job. *IMPORTANT: Once you click on Submit, you will not be able to return to the application to make any changes.

46 Once you submit your application, you will be returned to the My Applications page where you will see a confirmation that your application has been submitted successfully for all positions you selected for it (see page 11). Confirmation

47 You will also receive a confirmation if you entered a valid address in your Profile. If you applied for multiple job postings with a single online application, they will all be listed in this . Note: The sender of the will be: Peoplesoft@Peoplesoft.com You may need to add this sender to your server s safe senders list in order to receive the . Confirmation

48 Continue Session or Log Out If you wish to leave the PeopleSoft system, simply click on the Sign Out link at the upper right corner of the My Applications page. Or, you may click on any of the links across the top to proceed to other pages and continue with your session. If you wish to apply for more jobs, click on the Careers Home link to return to your Careers Home page and view the latest job postings.

49 Applying for Another Job Opening Once you are back on your Careers Home page, click on the blue job title of any listed job to view full details of the position. Or, you may simply click the box under Select for each job title you wish to apply for and then click on the Apply Now button.

50 Applying for Another Job Opening If you saved your previous application prior to submitting it, the information entered for all sections should be carried over into this new application. However, you may delete or change any information as it pertains to the current application. Once any changes have been made, click on the Apply Now button.

51 Applying for Another Job Opening You will again be taken to the Submit Online Application page where you will proceed as previously explained for this page. *IMPORTANT: If you do not agree to the terms, you will not be able to submit your application. After you click the button that you agree to the terms, click the Submit button to complete the online application and apply for the job.

52 Applying for Another Job Opening Once you submit your application, you will again be returned to the My Applications page where you will see a confirmation that your application has been submitted successfully. You will also receive a confirmation if you entered a valid address in your Profile.

53 Continue Session or Log Out If you wish to leave the PeopleSoft system, simply click on the Sign Out link at the upper right corner of the My Applications page. Or, you may click on any of the links across the top to proceed to other pages and continue with your session.
