1 Dear Parents/Guardians, St. Francis of Assisi Parish Faith Formation Office 4263 St. Francis Drive P.O. Box 182 Athol Springs, NY (716) FAX (716) April 30, 2016 Our Faith Formation registration and schedule for the year is enclosed. We have worked very hard to formulate a comprehensive program that meets everyone s needs. We strive to teach the basics of our faith, including the Gospel values that Jesus taught in His words and actions to our students as well as our parents. We have: Scheduled many more programs on Sundays. Added a continuation of the student s curriculum learning sessions to run five times throughout the year. Dropped our Home School program but added a Fall/Winter parent/child learning program in its place. Added a separate Middle School program. Enriched our third grade Sacramental year program by scheduling set days for parents and children to review chapters in the First Reconciliation and First Eucharist books. (Please note, third grade does not attend the additional Student curriculum learning sessions). Our Special Needs students will be integrated more in sessions with our Faith Community as opposed to only inclusion sessions. Our 9 th and 10 th grade Confirmation sessions will now be for parents as well as students. We will continue to follow the fee scale which distinguishes between Active/Participating Parishioner Families and Inactive and/or Non-parishioner Families. If you have a balance due from , these fees must be paid before registering your children for the coming year. Payment for this new year must be made at the time of registration. If there are any financial issues that prevent you from paying at this time please contact us. To save paper, we are asking, those who are able, to print the registration form and return it via mail, drop it off at the office, or put it in the weekend collection basket. Please return your registration with payment by June 30. For the upcoming year: GRADES 1-5: Your child is asked to attend a one-week session EC (Elementary Class) in the summer either July (EC1), or August 8-12 (EC2), 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon or the new Fall/Winter parent/child sessions (EC3) held seven Tuesday evenings from 6:15-8:15 PM. Coinciding with the EC programs all students (with the exception of the third grade) are asked to attend our extended student curriculum learning sessions before the 11 am Mass on the five dates listed. Your child/family is also asked to attend three C (Class) sessions as well as five S (Service) sessions. GRADES 6-8: Your child is asked to pick two MS mini sessions. Your child/family is also asked to choose three C (Class) sessions as well as five S (Service) sessions. SPECIAL NEEDS (SN): Your child/family will attend the SN individual classes as well as the sessions marked on your registration sheet. You are also welcome to attend any C (Class) or S (Service) sessions of your choice. Note, if you are not a member of St. Francis Parish, please obtain a letter each year from your parish stating it is acceptable for your child to attend our Faith Formation program and/or receive a Sacrament here. We will also need a copy of your child s Baptismal Certificate. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Faith Formation office. Thank you for making your children s faith an integral part of their life as a Roman Catholic. We look forward to working together with you, the parents, the first and most important religion teachers of your children. May we continue to grow together as true disciples of Jesus. We, together with Jesus and each other, can and will make a positive difference in our world. May God bless you, your families and all that you do. Sincerely in Christ and St. Francis, Fr. Ross M. Syracuse, OFM Conv. Jean Hymes Cheryl Burns Pastor Director, Faith Formation Coordinator, Faith Formation
