The Robert Napier School Sixth Form will develop and support you, to enable you to make informed decisions about the next stage in your life, whether that is progression to university, to a different form of higher level training or entry into work. The ethos of our Sixth Form embodies all that you would hope for from a 21st century education a traditional focus on values and behaviour, combined with innovation in technology, and learning with first class facilities to support your learning. We place our students at the centre of every decision we make, and everything we do is about ensuring that your experiences in Sixth Form helps you to develop into the best you can be within a caring, supportive environment with a strong pastoral structure at the heart of the whole school. 5 Your Curriculum Our Sixth Form curriculum is designed to support you to learn, achieve and succeed. Creating a happy community We understand the vital importance of making informed choices and we support you to blend vocational and academic pathways to ensure that you are able to achieve your goals. You will be taught by subject specialists and, in addition, have time for independent study in the Sixth Form centre. The majority of our students progress onto University or into higher level training through their choice of academic or vocational qualifications. We offer a range of A level subjects including Mathematics, English, Applied Science, Biology, Art, History and Government & Politics. Our BTEC results have been highlighted as being in the top 10% of the country, and our students can choose to study BTECs which include Drama, ICT, Business and Sport. A separate booklet will provide up-to-date information about the different subjects we are offering each year....taught by the best teachers A key reason I chose the Robert Napier is the range of courses and the flexibility of choice on offer. I was able to take subjects I wanted and received good advice that helped me to keep my options open for the future Year 12 student. who provide a personal level of support.

6 My teachers in the Sixth Form are really supportive; helping me to achieve my ambitions. I have created friendships that I know will last a lifetime. Year 13 student Developing Leadership At the heart of our school community is the House System. Your will join a House for the duration of your time with us. There are four Houses, each named after local birds of prey: Eagle, Harrier, Kestrel and Osprey, to build belonging and a sense of competition. Each House is led by a Director of Learning and a non-teaching House Manager. You are assigned to a form, which comprises of students from all year groups, where you have the opportunity to develop leadership in supporting and mentoring younger students. Through our Leadership Development Programme you will also be able to apply for senior positions of responsibility within the school to support career choices, apprenticeships and UCAS applications.

7 It s not like being at school, we get treated like adults Year 12 student Life in the Sixth Form You have a dedicated Study Centre with excellent IT facilities to give you the experience of studying in a professional and adult environment. Sixth Form students have their own area with comfortable seating within our Canteen and have access to Joe s Coffee shop. Through our Leadership Development Programme students are able to apply for senior positions of responsibility in the school such as Head Boy and Head Girl, the Junior Leadership Team, Senior Prefects and Student Mentors. You also have access to the wider range of clubs and facilities on offer, including our highly successful Basketball Academy and growing range of Music, Arts and Drama related opportunities.

8 Letter from the Head Boy and Head Girl As Head Boy and Head Girl of The Robert Napier School we would like to welcome everyone. Academic and vocational blended pathways We will be working together with The Student Voice (Junior Leadership Team, Student Council and Prefects) to make sure you have a say in the way your school runs. Each of these people will be here to help and support you throughout your years as a student. We aim to cater for the needs of every individual student, ensuring a fun, educational and healthy environment for everybody. Our school offers a wide range of enrichment activities available to all. These can take place during or after school, including mentoring and a wide array of clubs, both academic and physical. When you reach Sixth Form, you widen your choices of extra-curricular activities and this involves more responsibility and management. This helps you gain valuable life skills to put on your UCAS applications or CV, which employers or universities love to see. Developing leadership and providing enriching experiences Our strong partnership with other local schools means that we can have a better and more cohesive community with all the schools working together to achieve their goals. You also have the option of studying a subject in one of the other schools in the Trust, when completing your AS, A Level or Level 3 BTEC courses. The Robert Napier School is a good choice, you get so much support from teachers, you re encouraged and helped to do your best in all the subjects you are studying. You always get prepared and assisted towards life after either GCSE, BTECs or A Levels, we always want our students to reach their full potential. We re happy to be a part of The Robert Napier Sixth Form; it s been truly enjoyable and we wouldn t have wanted to spend our time anywhere else. Aspiring towards and achieving your goals
