1 中華電力有限公司 CLP Power Hong Kong Ltd 16 February 2012 CLP's GREEN PLUS Recognition Award Helps reduce 16,000 tonnes of CO 2 emission CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) today announced the results of the first GREEN PLUS Recognition Award. Created as part of CLP s goal of encouraging and assisting more small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and schools and contractors to implement energy-efficiency and conservation (EE&C) solutions in their operations, the award also aims to recognise and showcase these outstanding results in energy saving. The 29 winners were selected from a total of more than 400 contestants. The winning organisations, some of which benefitted from CLP's EE&C advice through the GREEN PLUS Programme launched in 2010, demonstrated exceptional management commitment to green measures, outstanding performance in terms of saving energy and effectiveness in promoting green messages. (Appendix) Speaking at the Award Presentation Ceremony, Richard Lancaster, Managing Director of CLP Power said, "We are delighted with the overwhelming response to this award programme. In total, we achieved a reduction in annual energy consumption of 30 GWh in the categories of commercial, NGO and Schools, equivalent to almost 16,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emission or the annual consumption of 7,200 domestic flats, meaning around 20 domestic towers. The award does more than help participating organisations to save energy and energy costs it also enhances awareness of the need to use less energy and helps to change people's behavior in terms of how they use energy. Thanks to the efforts of all the participating SMEs, NGOs, schools and contractor organisations, the professionalism of CLP's engineers, the support of EE&C advisors and judging panel, we have taken significant steps in the journey towards a greener and more sustainable Hong Kong." All of the winning organisations outlined their energy saving strategies at today's Award Presentation Ceremony, sharing their best practices and innovative ideas with the other attendees and promoting greener use of energy in their respective industries. Unlike large corporations with in-house engineering teams, SMEs, NGOs, schools and contractors 1

2 are often constrained by the limited resources at their disposal. This was part of the rationale for the creation of the GREEN PLUS Programme in August The programme involved CLP offering tailor-made consultation, advice and services to help participating organisations save energy, with contributions from advisors from various sectors. This Award is just one of a raft of measures taken by CLP to promote energy saving. It marks another significant milestone in the history of the GREEN PLUS Programme, which to date has successfully recruited over 700 members.
