2 CALF SCRAMBLE RECORD BOOK INFORMATION DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE END OF THE PROJECT TO COMPLETE THIS REPORT. ACCURATE RECORDS SHOULD BE KEPT THROUGHOUT THE DURATION OF THE PROJECT. Guidelines 1. FULFILLING YOUR RECORD BOOK AND SHOW REQUIREMENTS In order to fulfill your Calf Scramble program requirements, you must complete the following: A. Enter your Calf Scramble project in the 2016 San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo through your County 4-H or FFA Chapter by December 1, Individual Club and Chapter deadlines may be earlier. Please enter the Stock Show through the same 4-H Club or FFA Chapter that you entered the Calf Scramble. Please note, as a calf scramble winner you are not automatically entered in the show. B. Complete the enclosed Record Book pages and submit the requested Record Book items to the Livestock Office. If you need additional pages, please feel free to make additional copies. DO NOT USE YOUR OWN FORMAT. The information requested in this packet are the minimum requirements of the S.A.L.E. Calf Scramble Record Book. C. Show your project at the 2016 San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. All projects purchased with the S.A.L.E. Calf Scramble Certificate MUST be shown. EX: If you purchased two gilts, you are required to show both gilts. NOTE: Calf Scramble participants are not required to turn monthly reports into the Livestock Office, but are encouraged to send monthly reports their sponsor. If you do not fulfill these requirements, you will not receive the title to your project (Original Registration Papers.) You may also be required to reimburse the San Antonio Livestock Exposition (S.A.L.E.) for the amount of the purchase certificate by March 31, ADDITIONAL MATERIALS Any additional materials included in your Record Book are encouraged and adds great depth and quality. Items you may include are: photos (exceeding the required 2 photos), ribbons, and additional memorabilia you ve collected while caring for and showing your project. Please place these items at the back of your Record Book. How you bind your book together is your choice and at your discretion. Have fun, be creative, and be imaginative. 3. RECORD BOOK DEADLINE Record Books must be submitted and received in the Livestock Office no later than: January 20, RECORD BOOK CONTEST Record Books that meet the minimum requirements are eligible for the Record Book Contest. Judging of the Calf Scramble Record Books will be based on the following: 30 points Completeness 30 points Accuracy 20 points Content 10 points Essay Questions 10 points Overall Appearance & Creativity Total points possible: 100 Points will be deducted for exceeding dimension requirements, which are listed below. 5. JUDGING AND RELEASE OF RECORD BOOKS Record Books received after January 20, 2016 will not be judged or considered for competition. Record Book must not exceed 16 x 16 x 8 dimensions (LxWxH) Results will be announced at the Calf Scramble Reception during the Stock Show and books will be on display. Record Books will be released only to the exhibitor, CEA/AST, parent/guardian, or authorized person and will not be released prior to the calf scramble reception. They must be signed out by one of the previously mentioned. If they are not picked up at the reception, they can be picked up at the Livestock Office after the reception. Record Books not picked up by the completion of the 2016 show will become the property of S.A.L.E S.A.L.E. Calf Scramble Record Book, Page 2 of 14

4 I. I. EXPENSES PROJECT INVESTMENT Projects must be purchased on or before the required ownership date for the specific Junior Breeding Department. In addition to the Calf Scramble Program rules and regulations, exhibitors are required to follow the guidelines as listed in the current San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Livestock Premium List (please note that Breeding Sheep have an ownership and validation deadline.) Complete the following summary for the Calf Scramble Project(s) purchased. Those exhibitors who purchase multiple Scramble projects, with the allocated Calf Scramble funds, must keep records on all livestock purchased. Animals should be designated in this report by the animal s registered name (if the animal does not have a registered name, use the registration number). This name/number should be used throughout the management period for record keeping purposes.
