2 OUR PROGRAMS The NYU Silver School of Social Work s curriculum reflects the most current evidence-informed multidisciplinary knowledge. Within a global perspective, the links between practice, research, and policy are integrated throughout the curriculum, as is a focus on social and economic justice and working competently with diverse and at-risk populations. In the classroom you will learn from worldclass faculty who are developing the latest evidence-based practices, and intensive field internships will provide you with real world, professional experience. Renowned for its strong tradition of clinical excellence and dedication to social justice, the School is paving the way in training students in integrated health, palliative and end-of-life care, and other innovative and emerging areas of social work practice. 4 RESEARCH STRENGTHS at NYU Silver An extraordinary range of faculty research and scholarship contributes to social work practice, social policy, and your education at NYU Silver. Faculty members are tackling society s most pressing problems by creating innovative, evidence-based interventions. The School is particularly known for its pioneering work around poverty; children, youth, and families; and mental health and science that enhances practice. In addition, the faculty conduct work around the world including in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Central America, South America, and Europe and teach and develop research methodology and analysis for both qualitative and quantitative methods. Research Centers The School houses research centers that foster and disseminate research targeted at issues important to social work. Center for Latino Adolescent and Family Health McSilver Institute for Poverty Policy and Research The Silver School is the home of Information for Practice (IP), the only centralized Web resource covering professional news and new scholarship from around the world. 5 FINANCIAL AID AND SCHOLARSHIPS The Silver School of Social Work is committed to providing financial assistance in the form of scholarships to our most competitive applicants. Applicants should indicate in their applications that they wish to be considered for our merit-based Silver School scholarships. Applicants are also strongly encouraged to review and apply for one of over 60 named scholarships available to MSW candidates.
