We have upgraded the classroom base units with the most current firmware. 1. Plug in your i>clicker base unit. 2. Download the i>clicker Base Utility Software for Windows or Mac. 3. Extract the contents of the zip file to your computer. 4. Open the iclicker-base-utility-win or iclicker-base-utility-mac folder depending on which version you downloaded. 5. Open the iclicker-base-utility folder. 6. Double-click the iclicker-base-utility icon. 7. Once opened the application should automatically run and check for updates. If an update is available click Update Firmware. Clemson Online August 2015 Page 1 of 15

2 8. A message will be displayed in red while the updated firmware is being installed. DO NOT disconnect the base unit during the update. 9. Once the update is complete a message will be displayed stating Your base firmware update is complete. 10. Close the i>clicker Base Firmware Utility by clicking the red X. Setup your course in Blackboard Option A: Tools 1. By default the Tools menu item is available in your course. 2. Students can register their remote in your class by clicking on the Tools link in your course menu. 3. Then selecting iclicker Student Registration. 3 4. Entering their i>clicker Remote ID. 5. Then clicking Submit. Option B: Tools link in your menu 1. Click the + button in your Blackboard Course menu. 2. Select Tool link. 3. Enter a Name. Example Register Clicker 4. Then select i>clicker Student Registration from the Type dropdown menu. 5. Select the checkbox to make the Tool link Available to Users. 6. Then click Submit. 4 7. The Register Clicker link is now available in your course menu. Setup your Course in i>clicker 1. Navigate to the Clemson Online website: 2. Download the Mac or Windows version of the i>clicker version software that is compatible with your computer. 3. Extract the contents of the zip file to your computer. 4. Open the Clemson_iclicker_win6 or Clemson_iclicker_mac6 folder. 5. Within that folder double-click the iclicker icon. Clemson Online August 2015 Page 4 of 15

5 NOTE: On newer Mac OS you might have to change your security preferences before you will be able to run the i>clicker and i>grader software. To change your security preferences, click the Apple menu, and select System Preferences. Double-click Security & Privacy. Under the General tab, under Allow apps downloaded from, either select Anywhere, or click the Open Anyway button where it says that i>clicker was blocked from opening. 6. Click New. 7. Enter the Course Name, Course Number, and Section Number. Clemson Online August 2015 Page 5 of 15

7 11. On the General tab, enter the Instructor s Remote ID. This allows the instructor to navigate their PowerPoint or Keynote slides with their i>clicker remote. 12. Then enter a Welcome Message. This message will show up on the display of students i>clicker 2 remotes to indicate they are voting on the right frequency. 13. Then click the LMS/Reg tab. 8 14. Under the Learning Management System(LMS) section select Blackboard. Then select Version 8 (and above). 15. Then click Set for Course. Synchronizing i>grader with your Blackboard Course 1. Open the Clemson_iclicker_win6 or Clemson_iclicker_mac6 folder. 2. Within that folder double-click the igrader icon. 3. Select your course. 4. Then click Choose. 5. i>grader will prompt you and ask if you would like to download your Blackboard roster now. Click Download Roster. Clemson Online online@clemson.edu August 2015 Page 8 of 15

9 6. Open your web browser and navigate to your Blackboard course. From the Course Management Menu, select Course Tools. 7. Click i>clicker Instructor Tools. 8. Next click the SSO Security Key link. Clemson Online August 2015 Page 9 of 15

10 9. Blackboard will provide your CMS Username and the Security Key. Copy this information to the clipboard. 10. Navigate back to i>grader. 11. Select Clemson Blackboard from the LMS Description dropdown menu. 12. Enter the CMS Username from Blackboard into the LMS Username field. 13. Enter the Security Key from Blackboard into the Security Key field. 14. Select the checkbox to Save my login credentials. 15. Then click Login. Clemson Online August 2015 Page 10 of 15

11 16. From the Course dropdown menu select the Blackboard course to associate to the Clicker course. 17. Then click Import Roster. 18. The roster file will download to i>grader from Blackboard. Once it has downloaded you will be prompted to restart i>grader. Click Restart i>grader. 19. Your roster will now show up in i>grader. Once you have passed the Add/Drop window for students dropping/adding classes, open i>grader and click Sync. 20. This will take you through steps again. Clemson Online August 2015 Page 11 of 15

12 21. At this point it will prompt you to overwrite your existing gb_export.csv file. Click Yes. 22. Then click Restart i>grader. Using the igrader software to upload scores to Blackboard Learn To upload your scores from the igrader application into Blackboard: 1. Open the Clemson_iclicker_win6 or Clemson_iclicker_mac6 folder. 2. Within that folder double-click the igrader icon. 3. Select your course. 4. Then click Choose. 13 5. Click the Export button on the toolbar. 6. Select the checkbox for the sessions to be exported. 7. Then click Export. Clemson Online August 2015 Page 13 of 15

14 8. A pop-up message is displayed that states the uploadfile.csv was created and the directory path where the file can be found. 9. Click OK. 10. Next i>clicker integrate will pop-up and ask you to login. Follow steps 6-16 under Setup your course in i>clicker. If you did this previously, the login information should still be saved. Just click Log In. 11. Select your Course from the available drop down menu. 12. Then click Upload Scores Clemson Online online@clemson.edu August 2015 Page 14 of 15
