2 FORWARD Timely, reliable and relevant information plays a vital role in policy formulation, planning, monitoring and evaluation of an organization. Realizing this importance a Management Information System in Social Welfare, Special Education & Women Empowerment Department government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was established in the year The MIS of Social Welfare, Special Education & Women Empowerment Department is responsible for collecting data of all the institutions of the department. For this purpose, the data of all Dastakari/vocational/industrial training center, Darul Amans (Women Shelter homes) and Rehabilitation Centre for drug addicts were collected. The MIS designed questionnaires for the above mentioned institutions/centre in consultation with all stakeholders and then sent to District Social Welfare Officers. The District Officers collected and verified the filled-in questionnaires and then sent to the MIS cell where it was checked and scrutinized for correction/removing mistakes before printing the draft report. The report, pertaining to the period from 1 st July 2013 to 30 th June 2014, covers different aspects of the institutions in the province. In addition, the MIS can analyze data and generates reports according to the needs of the data users. This report is the outcome of hard work of the MIS team and all the District Officers, Social Welfare, Special Education & Women Empowerment Department. Your valuable comments and suggestions will help us to improve the report further from the current year. 3 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY DASTAKARI/VOCATIONAL/INDUSTRIAL TRAINING CENTERS The following information/analysis is for the reported period i.e. 1 st July 2013 to 30 th June There are 159 Dastakari/Vocational/Industrial training centers in the province. Centers by location are 39 in urban and 120 in rural areas. Out of 159 centers, 130(82 %) are functional and 29(18%) are nonfunctional. The number of centers on regular side are 113(72%) whereas 46(28%) are ADP schemes. Out of 113 regular centers, 17 are non-functional. Similarly, 12 ADP schemes are also non-functional. Out of 17 non-functional regular centers, 10 are due to staff, 4 are due to staff & equipments and 1 is due to both staff & building. Two centers remained non-functional despite having staff, equipments and building. Out of 12 non-functional ADP centers, 1 is due to staff, 7 are due to equipments, 1 is due to staff & equipments, 2 are due to both equipments and building and 1 is due to building only. The number of centers functioning in Government buildings are 15 whereas 112 centers are functioning in rented buildings. Rent paid per month during is Rs. 451,522 /-. Total rent paid during the period is Rs. 5,418,264/-. Buildings for the remaining 32 centers were provided free of cost by the community. The total beneficiaries of Dastakari/vocational/industrial training centers for the year are 7,172. District Kohat has the maximum number of beneficiaries i.e. 988, The expenditure of all the Dastakari/vocational/industrial training centers in the province is Rs. 77,455,565 /-. Hence the cost per beneficiary is Rs. 900/month. 3

4 Darul Aman (Women Shelter Homes) There are 4 regular and 1 ADP Darul Aman in the province Total numbers of beneficiaries are 622. No of cases settled through courts are 175 whereas through Jargga are 38. Legal aids were provided to 153 women. Training imparted to 168 women. Rehabilitation Centers for Drug Addicts There are 5 Rehabilitation Centers for Drug Addicts on regular side in the province. The number of addicts treated in these centers are 306 during the reported period. Training imparted to 108 drug addicts. Total expenditure is Rs /-. Cost per beneficiary is Rs. 50,428/annum. 4
