3 Free Medical Camps In June, HHRD Physical Rehabilitation Centers (PRCs) organized four one- Day Free Medical Camps in four villages of Mansehra, and Abbottabad for the patients with disabilities. More than 200 disabled patients received consultation and treatment. For secondary care, patients were referred to concerned specialists for further treatment. About Physical Rehabilitation Program (PRP) The HHRD Physical Rehabilitation Program aims to improve the health and quality of life of people living with disabilities. Through its two Physical Rehabilitation Centers (PRCs), the Program helps disabled people by providing following rehabilitation therapies: Physiotherapy Occupational therapy Orthotics/ prosthetics Since 2005, two Physical Rehabilitation Centers (PRCs) are functional, one in Mansehra (KP) and one in Muzafarabad (AJ &K), whereas, the construction of a multi-storey State of The Art Physical Rehabilitation Complex-Mansehra is under way. These are the first centers in their kind in the entire earthquake region. After the devastated earthquake of 2005, our PRCs played a major role in provision of prostheses and orthoses to the injured. Since 2006, the HHRD PRCs provided 85,000 rehabilitation consultations to the patients with disabilities (PWDs), hence made one of the largest contribution in this physical rehabilitation filed. In addition, since 2009, Helping Hand Institute of Physical Rehabilitation & Medical Sciences (HHIRM) in Mansehra has been providing well-trained & skilled paramedical personnel to the health department. What is Physiotherapy? Assessment, maintenance and restoration of the physical function and performance of a body are called physiotherapy. In other words: Treatment of a disease on physical means like exercises, modalities and manual techniques. Who can benefit from Physiotherapy? Suffering from stroke or feeling weakness in any part of body arm or leg. Having congenital or acquired deformity in back or limbs. Have brain, spinal cord or nerve injury.
