1 Title: Adding Rigor & Relevance Using Smart Centers (1 - day workshop) This workshop is one you won t want to miss! Come and gain knowledge of how to add rigor & relevance to your center time. Each Smart Center is aligned to the NEW Common Core Reading Standards, The Five Reading Components, Bloom s Taxonomy (Depth of Knowledge Levels), Dr. Gardner s Multiple Intelligences & the Content Area Requirements. These innovative centers encourage inquiry and meaningful experiences while integrating the content areas! Our Smart Centers are differentiated and include plenty of informational text that allows student to be highly engaged. Leave this workshop being renewed, re- energized and encompass a love for center time in your classroom! At the end of this workshop you will be able to write and create a rigorous Smart Center utilizing your own materials in your classroom. As you examine the samples our presenter brings; you will catch a glimpse of how Smart Centers can be effective and highly engaging for every student. An added bonus; you will also discover how to rotate, assess, hold students accountable and use formative and summative assessments during Smart Center time. In addition, you will learn how to rotate and create a Professional Learning Community that allows you to change your Smart Centers every 9 weeks! Come and be amazed! Title: Rigor & Relevance with SMART GUIDED READING! (1- day workshop) Come and be amazed at how simple Guided Reading can be through these effective, research based practical strategies. Based on exemplary practices used by high achieving schools, participants will focus on the critical elements of guided reading within the balanced literacy framework. 5 Title: Smart Model Classroom Makeovers: Putting It All Together! (1-2 days) Our Smart Schools team will arrive at the school and do a complete makeover on one of your classrooms! After consulting and interviewing with the chosen grade level and hearing the needs and requirements of their classrooms, we will design and construct a plan for the room. Each model classroom is designed to showcase all of the powerful teaching and learning strategies in real time for teachers. Teachers will learn how to organize, sort, and design the classroom space into a research- based environment promoting student independence. Each model classroom is transformed into a literature- rich, student- centered environment aligned to the New Common Core Standards. The set up includes: organization of guided reading, family time, calendar, Social Studies, Science, Art, Shared Reading, Independent Reading, Classroom Library, Writer s Workshop, and as a bonus- each makeover classroom will receive 10 Smart Centers (created with your school s materials), 5 Smart Literacy Bags using your classroom materials, and one Smart Writer s Portfolio as well as the editing pencils.
