1 Big Ideas 4 Little Learners will help you enhance the learning experiences of the youngest students through weekly video conference professional development. These interactive sessions will take place from (4:00pm-5:00pm). Attend from your home school or at the Valley ESC. Teachers and early childhood staff will have the opportunity to gain research-based practices from one or all sessions. Members can attend for FREE Non-member school sites can attend for a per-building site fee ($85.00) A non-member fee of $10.00 per person/per session will be charged for those attending on-site at the. Do you need graduate credit or contact hours? No Problem! Register for the graduate credit option to earn 1 semester hour graduate credit from University. Hurry! Social and Emotional Needs of Children/Adolescents What happens when students are identified with social and emotional needs? Where do we point families for assistance? The Zanesville- County Health Department will share information for working with families in need of assistance. Will the ELDS Please Stand Up? Learn how to make Early Learning and Development Standards (ELDS) integration and assessment part of your preschool routines and tasks. This session will show you how to embed ELDS into the daily occurrences of morning meetings, transitions, snack time, literacy, and circle time and illustrate how this method will benefit your students and staff. Building Number Sense Part 1 Students need to think and reason flexibly with numbers, use numbers to solve problems, spot unreasonable answers, understand how numbers can be taken apart and put together in different ways, see connections among operations, figure mentally, and make reasonable estimates. Discover strategies to develop number sense in early education classrooms. Ruth will model rich math tasks to use in the classroom and participants will walk away with an additional rich math task to use with their students. Making the Connection Between the Third Grade Reading Guarantee and Early Educational Programs Supporting early learning programs (preschool-3rd grade) with high quality practices is critical. Join us to discuss the connections that early learning makes in the process. All activities won t work for every instructor, but try it and find out! Walk away with some themed-based lessons to try the next week in your classroom. 11/05/14 Teachers Circle Time Signs (ASL Integration Techniques) Using sign language with young children has been shown to enhance early learning experiences across content areas, from literacy, language, and communication, to social-emotional development. But how do you incorporate it into your daily routine? This session will provide examples of how to make ASL a part of children s ongoing activities and interests. Session 1 focus will be on circle time signs and vocabulary. Find useful techniques to use the next day in your classroom. 11/12/14 Administrators Step Up To Quality Administration Information- Session 1 Join us for professional dialogue and information sharing around SUTQ Program Administration. This session will focus on Administrative and Leadership Practices. 11/19/14 Teachers Mapping Core Learning Standards Using Literature Are you struggling with ways to connect the ELD s to Reading and Writing? Learn a few simple ways to incorporate reading, writing, and children s literature to the standards. This session will help educators create these critical documents for dealing with difficult student behavior. Get Your Move On! Zanesville- County Health Department staff will share how to increase nutritional education and physical activity in our early childhood classrooms. Learn strategies to get students up and moving! Incorporate physical activity into your daily instruction. Music is in the Air! How can music teach basic skills? Do you use music regularly in your circle-time activities? Gross Motor Activities for the Classroom Simple, effective gross motor exercises for teachers to use in the classroom. So whether you are an intervention teacher working with a few students, or have a whole classroom full of students, you will find great ideas to implement in your class tomorrow!
