Placeringen syftar till att öka den svenska kompetensen inom B4D och ICT4D och att ge yngre akademiker erfarenhet från utvecklingssamarbete i Sveriges samarbetsländer. 2 JOB DESCRIPTION B4D Post information Post Title: Bilateral Associate Expert, Business for Development (B4D) Supervisor: (Name and title of Supervisor) To be decided Duty station: To be decided Duration: Initially for two years, with possibility for extension a third year. General information about the Bilateral Associate Expert Programme (BBE) The aim of Sida s Bilateral Associate Expert Programme is to contribute to Swedish resource base development. This is a training programme aimed at younger individuals who wish to work within international development cooperation. Bilateral associate experts are to be located within operational areas where there is an anticipated future need for qualified Swedish personnel. General background Sida s work on Business for Development (B4D) is guided by the government s Strategy for capacity development and collaboration (UF2010/46581/USTYR). Sida s objective in this field is to facilitate the effective contribution of private sector actors to the objectives of international development cooperation and reform cooperation in Eastern Europe. To achieve this objective, Sida collaborates with private sector actors, stimulates private sector development and entrepreneurship in particularly poor countries/regions and contributes to the development of markets and production methods for the benefit of people living in poverty. Sida works with innovative and flexible methods and working procedures and seek active collaboration and strategic partnerships with other donors and actors in this field. Sida s work on B4D is coordinated by the unit for Capacity Development and Cooperation, which is a part of the department of Global Cooperation at Sida Headquarters in Stockholm. The B4D group manages global, regional and national projects/programmes on B4D as well as provides support and advice on B4D to other Sida units and Embassies. National (and sometimes regional) projects/programmes on B4D are also managed by the Swedish Embassies in relevant countries. As a B4D Bilateral Associate Expert you will be working with B4D in the field, based at a Swedish Embassy in a developing country. Duties (List of duties in order of priority and with regard to responsibility) 1. Assist Embassy staff in the initialization, management and evaluation of B4D projects/programmes. 2. Identify opportunities for the creation of cooperation/synergies between private sector actors and development goals. 3. Promote and provide information on B4D in general and specific B4D initiatives/instruments (such as Innovations Against Poverty, IAP, Public Private Partnerships, PPP) 4. Promote the implementation of corporate social responsibility activities among businesses.

3 5. Follow and analyse the development of the B4D instruments/methods in the country/region in close cooperation with other donors, multinational organisations, private actors etc. 6. Liaise with the B4D group in Stockholm. Qualification Requirements (theoretical and practical) a) Education background Academic degree in social science, political science, economy or any related field, preferably with some focus on development cooperation, poverty, social entrepreneurship/innovation or corporate social responsibility. b) Practical experience At least two years of relevant working experience in a relevant area Experience from working in the private sector or from working/collaborating with private sector actors c) Language Requirements Excellent command of English and Swedish as well as knowledge of any other language relevant to the post. d) Merits Experience of working with financial solutions such as credits, loans and guarantees. Experience of working with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Special regulations for the BBE-position Maximum age of 32 years at the date of application Swedish citizenship or permanent residence permit in Sweden At least two years of relevant working experience Maximum of one year working experience from developing countries or countries of Central and Eastern Europe. Driving licence Learning and professional development After one year of duty the BBE will have reached insight of the development cooperation Sida conducts generally in the country where the BBE is located and specifically in the area of business for development. After two years the BBE will be able to work more independently with development cooperation

To achieve this objective, Sida provides support to strategic ICT4D activities and to capacity and methods development within ICT4D. Another important task is to integrate ICT4D components in already existing Sida projects and programmes where relevant. Qualification Requirements (theoretical and practical) a) Education background Academic degree in social science, political science, economy, communications or any related field, preferably with some focus on development cooperation, poverty, social entrepreneurship/innovation or ICT. b) Practical experience At least two years of relevant working experience in a relevant area Knowledge and/or practical experience in ICT-related areas, such as computers, communications, social networking, mobile technology etc. c) Language Requirements Excellent command of English and Swedish as well as knowledge of any other language relevant to the post. d) Merits Experience of working with women and ICT.
