3 Project Description Location Located in the middle of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. 2 hours from the capital Amman. 2 hours from the port of Aqaba. Located in the desert environment of Tafila. Customer: Jordan Wind Power Company (JWPC) 3
4 Project Description Location & Wind conditions Located at an altitude of 1600 m. Consists of 38 VESTAS Wind Turbines Generators - a total capacity of 117 MW. The WTGs are V MW at Hub Height of 94 metres. It is slightly complex terrain. Mean wind speed close to 8 m/s. The wind farm is split in 8 clusters. 4

6 Wind Turbines Manufacturing Blades from Germany Nacelles, Blades from Denmark Blades from US Blades from Taranto, Italy Towers from Spain Controllers from China Wind turbines components from 6 distinct origins. 6
7 Balance of Plant Partners Engaged a Major Local Construction Company (Arab Tower Contracting Co). Electrical part awarded to experienced company Isastur. Supported by experienced wind farm BOP firm Prenecon. Employment of numerous local civil sub contractors. Development of local of community
8 Balance of Plant Civil Roads construction of 28 km with base coarse. Casting of 38 foundations of approx. 400 m3. Construction of special crane pads for the storage and assembly of WTGs. Elaborate quality plan developed, strictly followed to ensure the best possible infrastructure. 8
9 Balance of Plant Warehouse A construction of 600 m2 warehouse to hosts the O&M. Special arrangements for the storage of WTG spare parts Extended office space for the personnel employed to operate the wind farm 9
10 Balance of Plant Substation A two transformer sub station build within the wind farm to connect to the NEPCO Substation. A well dedicated team to operate the electrical infrastructure. Strong link with the local utility. 10
11 Balance of Plant Cable Network An extended underground cable 33 kv network. A total 161 km of MV Cables to be laid. 11
12 Transportation & Shipping 7 vessels transported the WTGs from different country of origins (US, SP, DK, IT, DE and CN). The shipping of Components took place within 3 months. Unloading of the vessels at the port of Aqaba, a first time for the port and its stevedores. Small Port capacity required extensive co-operation with local authorities and employment of external storage areas. Well dedicated office for customs clearance. 12
13 Transportation Inland A well established transport company used for the port handling and inland transportation in cooperation with a local company. A top quality fleet of 12 special transportation trailers and trucks. Extensive investigation of the road through surveys, trials runs. Numerous civil Interventions to permit components transportation. Transportation works spanning over a period of 4 months. 13
14 Installation A well established crane and installation team for the assembly of the turbines. Special arrangements for the preparation and unloading of the main components. Assembly works spanning over a period of 5 months. Lifting procedures developed in order to ensure the safe operation of the works. Engagement of both local and non-local cranes for the works. 14
15 Commissioning A specialised team to commission and start the substation and the WTGs. Employment and development of a local team that will operate and maintain the wind farm. Development of SCADA system for the monitoring of the WTGs and the complete wind farm 15
16 HS & Environment 16 Compliance with the Customers lenders and Jordanian Requirements. A well developed HS and environmental plan. Extended presence of the HSE team of VESTAS and its sub contractors. Development of HSE awareness and permanent monitoring of the works performance. Employment and development of a local team that will operate and maintain the wind farm. Development of SCADA system for the monitoring of the WTGs and the complete wind farm
17 Local Content Familiarisation of the new environment and engagement of local authorities. Development and follow up of Social Responsibility Program with all stakeholders. Development of non Technical Risk register. Presence of Local Engagement officer. Employment of the local population (security, BOP etc.) 17
