Call for Nominations Roofing is a complex process that involves contractors, distributors and suppliers. As a result, the roofing industry must always have exceptionally reliable, dedicated employees. And among those employees, usually one stands out for stellar performance. That stellar employee needs to know his or her work and contributions are noticed and appreciated. Honor that special employee by nominating him or her for a Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award. Winning an MVP award is an outstanding accomplishment and great honor. MVPs are role models who demonstrate work-related and personal goals to which others aspire. The MVP Awards program formally recognizes and honors a maximum of 10 outstanding roofing workers every year who strive for excellence, dedication, enthusiasm and teamwork, and one MVP winner will be chosen to be Professional Roofing s Best of the Best. 2 ELIGIBILITY The MVP Awards program is intended for workers who typically may not be publicly acknowledged for their efforts or eligible to participate in any type of recognition or incentive programs within their companies. Following are the levels and job titles for eligible workers employed by an NRCA member or nonmember roofing contracting, distributor or supplier firm. Roofing contracting firms any field roofing worker, foreman or superintendent. The number of nominations per firm must not exceed three per company branch. Distributor and supplier firms warehouse employee, warehouse foreman, driver or equipment operator. The number of nominations must not exceed five per national firm. Self-nominations are not permitted; rather, each participating firm or his or her designee is responsible for preparing and submitting the entry form(s) and including supporting information a minimum of 100 words. Input from employees is strongly encouraged. CRITERIA BY WHICH NOMINEES WILL BE EVALUATED Nominees will be evaluated based on significant contributions in the following categories. (Nominees can be nominated for more than one category; each category will be judged separately.) Outstanding on-the-job performance: A nominee must demonstrate a strong work ethic and outstanding workmanship in his or her area of responsibility and contribute creative ideas for problem solving. On-the-job safety performance: A nominee must have an outstanding safety record and/or contribute to the improved safety of the work crew. Contributions to a team effort: A nominee should demonstrate support for co-workers and helping others learn. He or she should demonstrate leadership, be respected by his or her peers, and show initiative and resourcefulness in attracting new roofing workers and helping retain existing ones. Community service and volunteerism: A nominee should be actively committed to participating in programs that have a positive effect on a segment of his or her community and/or the general public. Other noteworthy contributions and activities: These activities should reflect positively on an individual personally and/or as an employee in the roofing industry (Examples include coaching, serving in the armed forces, etc.). ENTRY PREPARATION Entries should be submitted as follows: 1. Complete the official entry form with the name and job title of the nominated employee. Be sure to check the award category(ies) in which the candidate is being entered, and provide company name, address and other contact information as requested. 2. For each award category in which a nominee is being entered, provide a detailed description (minimum of 100 words) of the specific attributes, activities and other factors that make the individual noteworthy or unique. Please provide adequate detail so judges have a basis of comparison with other entries. Note: Entries submitted without supporting information will not be considered judges need detailed information to properly evaluate the entries. Handwritten entries are discouraged. 3. To assist you with the nomination process, sample applications are available at 4. Include applicable information and material that may help strengthen the nominee s credentials as a potential award winner, such as customer and supervisor comments. Remember, the only information the judges will have on which to base their decisions is the information presented with the entry. 5. 3 JUDGES Judges are recognized professionals within the roofing industry and include a representative mix of contractors, manufacturers, distributors and suppliers. The only information the judges will have available on which to base their decisions is the information submitted with each entry. How the judging works: 1. Entries are reviewed at Alliance headquarters to confirm eligibility. 2. Each eligible entry is individually evaluated by the judges. 3. The highest-ranking entries in each category will be re-evaluated to determine the winner. 4. Judges decisions are final, and evaluations of specific entries will remain confidential.
