1 Installation SQL Server Management Studio 2014 Introduction This document contains instructions how to install Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Please note that installing and using this software is not the default method to install a Coffalyser.Net server database. This method should be used with caution. We recommend to install and use Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 2014 in combination with Coffalyser.Net only in the following situations: When you want to back up the database regularly. When you have multiple SQL server databases. When the installation of the SQL server via the Coffalyser.Net wizard fails. 1

2 Download the installation file On the website of Microsoft several installation files are available for both 32 bit as well as 64 bit systems. It is important to select an installation file in which tools are included and that matches the bit rate of your computer. For 32 bit PCs, please select one of these files: ExpressAdv 32BIT\SQLEXPRADV_x86_ENU.exe ExpressAndTools 32BIT\SQLEXPRWT_x86_ENU.exe For 64 bit PCs, please select one of these files: ExpressAdv 64BIT\SQLEXPRADV_x64_ENU.exe ExpressAndTools 64BIT\SQLEXPRWT_x64_ENU.exe D O W N L O A D P R O C E D U R E 1. 3 Installation of SQL Server Management Studio 2014 To be able to install SQL Server Management Studio 2014, you will need to have sufficient rights on the computer you want to install this software on. A wizard guides you through the installation process. I N S T A L L A T I O N P R O C E D U R E 1. Double click on the installation file 2. Click Yes to allow SQL Server 2014 to make changes to your PC 3. Click Browse to navigate to the desired location where the files should be extracted 4. Click OK to confirm the location 5. Navigate to the section Installation in the SQL Server Installation Center 6. Select the option New SQL Server stand-alone installation or add features to an existing installation 7. Accept the license terms by clicking the selection box 8. Click Next > Setup Global Rules identify problems that might occur when you install SQL Server Setup support files. Failures must be corrected before the Setup can continue. When no problem has been identified, the wizard automatically continues. In case of a warning/failure, check the details and click on the rule in the Status column for a description. 9. Click the selection box to use Microsoft Update to check for updates 10. Click Next > Install Rules identify problems that might occur while running Setup. Failures must be corrected before Setup can continue. In the Server Configuration screen navigate to the tab Service accounts 14. Set the Startup type of the service SQL Server Database Engine to Automatic and of the service SQL Server Browser to Disabled. 15. Navigate to the tab Collation 16. Check if the Database Engine is set to SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS. If yes, continue with step 20. If not, click Customize 17. Select SQL collation for backwards compatibility 18. Select SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS from the list 19. Click OK 20. Click Next > 21. In the Database Engine Configuration screen navigate to the tab Server Configuration 22. Select Mixed Mode (SQL Server authentication and Windows authentication) 23. Specify a password for the administrator (sa) account in the designated fields Write down or remember this passwordd as it is required during installation/configuration of Coffalyser.Net. 24. Click Next > 4

6 Uninstallation of SQL Server Management Studio 2014 In the procedure below is described how to uninstall SQL Server Management Studio In case you want to remove another version of SQL Server Management Studio, this procedure might be used as a general guideline. However, we strongly recommend to check the manual specific for your version for detailed instructions. U N I N S T A L L A T I O N P R O C E D U R E 1. Open the Control Panel of Windows 2. Navigate to Programs and click Uninstall a program 3. Select Microsoft SQL Server 2014 (XX-bit) from the list 4. Click Uninstall/Change 5. Click Remove in the pop-up window Setup Global Rules identify problems that might occur when you install SQL Server Setup support files. Failures must be corrected before the Setup can continue. When no problem has been identified, the wizard automatically continues. In case of a warning/failure, check the details and click on the rule in the Status column for a description. 6. In the Select Instance screen select the SQL Server Instance in the drop down list from where you want to remove features. 7. Click Next > 8. In the Select Features screen select the features that you want to remove and click Next > Setup is running to determine if the uninstallation process will be blocked. In case of a warning/failure, check the details and click on the rule in the Status column for a description. Failures must be corrected before uninstallation can continue. 9. In the Ready to Remove screen verify the features that will be removed. Click Remove to continue with uninstallation. 10. In the Complete screen click Close to exit the wizard 6
