37 Conclusion Since its beginnings in 1916, the JROTC program: Developed into one of the most valued additions any high school can make to its overall curriculum. It is an exceptional cost-effective method of enhancing the host school s academic program. Provides a well-rounded and meaningful education to many of today s students. Produce more successful students and ultimately more successful and productive adults. Brings to each school a more constructive and more disciplined learning atmosphere. Adds prestige to schools through drill teams and color guards. Makes substantial contributions to many communities.
38 Conclusion (Continued) Chicago is on the leading edge of the utilization of JROTC in Urban Education through Military Academies, Academies within a School, Traditional JROTC Programs, Middle School Programs, and Corporate/Foundation Partnerships for the 21 st Century.
