1 Central Timetabling Timetable Views for Students This guide gives details of the different ways that student timetables can be accessed online. The topics addressed in the guide are: What types of timetable are available?...1 How are personal timetables accessed?...2 How are module timetables accessed?...5 How are core programme timetables accessed?...6 What types of timetable are available? There are three main types of timetable: Personal timetable this shows all of the teaching activities that a student has been allocated to, and therefore must attend. Module timetables these show all of the teaching activities associated with the particular module. Core programme timetables these show all teaching activities associated with the compulsory and optional modules for the study where only one timetable slot is available i.e., the student must be able to attend the activity in order to take the module.

2 How are personal timetables accessed? The information shown on the personal timetable is the same, wherever it is accessed from. It is linked to the timetabling database, so any changes made to teaching times or locations will be instantly updated. When a student changes their modules, the new activities will appear on the personal timetable one working day after the change is made on Banner. Personal timetables can be accessed from: The Portal main page, using the My Timetable link on the right of the screen: 2

4 Both links above lead to the View Timetable page within Student Services, accessed from within the Portal, where students have the option of viewing all year, a specific semester, or a specific week. A link to an Understanding Your Timetable document is available from the Student area of the Timetable webpages ( The teaching school and parent school links on this page lead to a list of the University s timetabling contacts. 4

5 How are module timetables accessed? Module timetables are linked to the timetabling database. All timetable changes are updated online as soon as the change is made in the database. Module timetables can be accessed from: The module catalogue on the web a link to the timetable is shown next to the Semester taught information. The Module Enrolment pages as a student selects their modules, each module which is available for selection has a View Timetable link. 5

6 The View Registered Modules page within Student Services, which is accessed through the portal The mymodules area of the portal For each of these, students should check the week numbers shown for individual activities on the timetable to check when they are running. How are core programme timetables accessed? These timetables are linked to the timetabling database. All timetable changes to existing activities are updated online as soon as the change is made; however, if a new activity is added, it will not appear on the timetable until the next update is run. These timetables should be used as a guide for selecting complementary modules, and not as a definitive timetable.
