5 5 A Closer Look at GE Requirement University requirements Distributional requirements (GE1401) University English Discipline-specific English (GE 1501) Chinese Civilisation History and Philosophy Area 1: Arts and Humanities Area 2: Study of Societies, Social and Business Organisations Area 3: Science and Technology 3 credits 3 credits 3 credits 12 credits (from 3 areas) College/School-specified courses 9 credits Total 30 credits Students will need to take: EL0200 English for Academic Purposes before taking GE1401 if they attain level 3 in HKDSE English, or as determined by the English Language Centre CHIN1001 University Chinese I, if they attain Level 3 in HKDSE Chinese Language These courses are not counted in minimum credit requirement and GPA, but will be counted towards maximum credits.

12 12 Credit Transfer Recognition of studies completed elsewhere. Credits are earned. Grades are normally not counted. Typical example of credit transfer: recognition of courses taken in exchange programme or collaboration programme with other universities. Normative 4-year degree students may apply for credit transfer on the basis of qualifications attained prior to admission by 29 August 2015 via AIMS. Details can be found in ARRO s website.

13 13 You must fulfill the following requirements for graduation: Meet all the degree requirements (check in DegreeWorks) within the maximum period of study and maximum number of credits permitted. Achieve a CGPA of 1.7 or above (i.e. average C-). Attain satisfactory academic progress throughout the study period, and complete all the required courses within 3 attempts. Apply for graduation in the term that you plan to graduate. Please take note of CAP message/ from ARRO and check ARRO website.
