5 Choosing Your Modules See the Programme Planner for 2014/15 It also includes criteria for Majors: IMPORTANT NOTES: Electronic Systems students can choose ANY 8 modules. Telecoms students MUST take at least 6 modules from the telecoms module set plus ANY other 2 modules

6 Credits & Weightings All taught modules are worth 7.5 ECTS credits (European Credit Transfer System) The PROJECT is worth 30 credits. For final precision mark computation: All taught modules are weighted 150 The PROJECT is weighted 600

15 Student Pitfalls According to DCU Regulations: 1) The four year rule - The maximum time a student may spend on a Masters Programme is 4 years - This includes Qualifier years and deferred years due to work or illness-related issues 2) The one session repeat rule - A module may be attempted for a maximum of 2 years 3) There are three different Continuous Assessment categories 1 - resit is available for all components of the module 2 - no resit is available for a 100% CA module 3:- no resit is available for the CA component only

16 Deferrals and Absences To defer an entire academic year, complete a Deferral of Academic Year (R-32) form Unexplained absences from exams result in a FAILED ATTEMPT. Therefore: Ensure you are registered correctly If absent, complete the appropriate form: postponement of examination form before the exam (R-33) and extenuating circumstances form after the examination (R-30) For forms, please see: Visit the Registry site at for more information
