3 Overview The Neller Document Reader must be installed on your computer to be able to read Neller Software Document Format (NDF) documents. NDF is an encrypted document format that is used by Preceda People to secure documents that contain sensitive information (i.e. Payslips). The Neller Document Reader un-encrypts the document to allow the details to be viewed. The Neller Document Reader will un-encrypt the document only when the correct user name and password is entered for the document being opened. The examples outlined in this document are based on Windows some screens may appear slightly different in other versions of Windows. The Add/Remove Programs feature appears in the Control Panel for all versions of windows. If you have an earlier version, the earlier version of Neller Document Reader must be uninstalled before installing the latest version (Version 1.2.1). This software must be installed as the Administrator of the PC. Preceda People Page 2

4 Check NDF Version If you do not have Neller Document Reader installed, go straight to the install process. The current version of the Neller Document Reader can be checked by viewing Help About in the Neller Document Reader You must log on to the PC as Administrator of the PC. To open the Neller Document Reader select the Start menu, go to Programs and select Neller Document Reader. Select Help and About Neller Document Reader. Preceda People Page 3

5 The current version of the software will be displayed. If the version is not Version 1.2.1, follow the instructions to uninstall and install the latest version of the Neller Document Reader. Preceda People Page 4

6 Uninstall the old version of Neller Document Reader The following instructions outline the steps required to uninstall the Neller Document Reader. You need to uninstall the Neller Document Reader only if you have an earlier version installed. You must log on to the PC as Administrator of the PC. To uninstall the Neller Document Reader on Windows use the Add/Remove Programs feature in the Control Panel. To open the Control Panel select the Start menu, go to Settings and select Control Panel. The following window will appear. On the Control Panel select Add/Remove Programs Preceda People Page 5

7 Using the scroll bar scroll down until you find the Neller Document Reader. If the Neller Document Reader does not appear in the Add/Remove Programs list it is not installed, therefore go straight to the install instructions which follow, to install the latest version of the Neller Document Reader. Highlight Neller Document Reader and select the Change/Remove button. You should receive the following message or a similar message: Select Yes to start the uninstall process for the Neller Document Reader. Preceda People Page 6

8 Once all components have been uninstalled the following window will appear: Select the OK button once it becomes enabled. This will confirm that the Neller Document Reader has been uninstalled successfully. Now you are ready to install the latest version of the Neller Document Reader. Preceda People Page 7

9 Install the new version of Neller Document Reader The Neller Document Reader (NDF) must be downloaded from the Neller Software web site. You must log on to the PC as Administrator of the PC. Select the following link and follow the instructions to install the Neller Document Reader. It is recommended all other applications be closed before installing the Neller Document Reader. Neller Document Reader Install Link: Select the Install Neller Document Reader button to commence the installation. During the installation you may receive a security warning asking if you want to install the Neller Document Reader, select Yes to the Security Warning indicating that the Neller Document Reader software is signed by Neller Software Certificate (as displayed below). 10 The following screen will appear: Select Next to commence the installation. The Neller Document Reader can be installed in a different location on the computer, however the default location is recommended. Preceda People Page 9

11 To change the location select the Browse button and select the destination you wish to install the Neller Document Reader. If the location does not exist you will be asked if you wish for the location to be created, select Yes and the install will create the location for you. Select the Next button to continue with the installation. Once the installation is completed you will be asked to restart your computer: If no other applications are open select Yes, I want to restart my computer now and press OK. This will restart your computer. If you have other applications open, the computer will shut them down without saving your work, before restarting. If you need to save any work select No, I will restart my computer later and press OK. If you select No make sure you restart your computer before using the Neller Document Reader.
