3 3 1 Creating Quotes Webline offers intuitive Quote forms for a number of the markets most integral Insurance products. These include: Annuities Income Protection Private Medical Insurance Term Assurance Whole of Life The quote forms are easy to use, fast to execute and most importantly intuitive; helping you give the best possible service to your client. Select quote from the menu bar. Select the product type you wish to quote on. The product types displayed in this area will be dependent on what you have selected in your panel in the settings area.
4 4 1.1 Protection There are several types of protection quotes available, this section will go through each of these in turn Term Assurance This will allow you to create a straightforward comparison term quote on level, decreasing or increasing basis for life and critical illness. If quick commission has been enabled in the settings area the Comm button will allow you to sacrifice commission on this particular quote. Once completed select Get Quote. The quote forms are user friendly and as easy to understand as possible, but if there is anything you don t understand, simply click on. In a few seconds Webline obtains quotes from the providers and displays them by default with the cheapest premium at the top, but this can be changed by clicking any of the column headings as displayed below. Webline will give you a quote reference which can be used to retrieve the quote at a later date.
5 5 The comparison table will clearly display the contracts that can be applied for electronically. If any of the providers returned an error, you can view the notes by clicking on the (Notes) link by the error. It will state why they have not quoted. Select (Show Printable) or (Get PDF) to print and save a copy of the comparison. If any of the provider s contracts were not included, they are displayed in a separate table with the reason.
6 6 A re-quote can be easily generated by scrolling down below the comparison table and amending the quote form. A new comparison quote will be generated with a new reference so it can once again be retrieved at a later date. A single illustration can be generated for the client by selecting Next for the chosen contract. You will be prompted to add the clients name so that a personalised Illustration can be created. Once the illustration has been received, you will be given the option to download the personalised Illustration for your client and other relevant documentation from the provider.
7 7 Select the blue link to display the document. Selecting Apply will navigate you through to the provider s website. You will need to enter the username and password supplied by the provider and the majority of provider s will pre-populate the quote details into the application Business Protection This will allow you to create a comparison term quote for business protection. The functionality is the same as Term Assurance quotes Term Additions This will allow you to create a comparison term quote for joint clients on a joint basis and two single life bases. The quote details only need to be entered in once and it will return three quotes, allowing you to quickly and easily compare the premiums for two single lives versus a joint life.
8 8 Enter the joint client and product details. The quote will be initially on a life only basis. Select Get Quote to obtain the comparison quote. The comparison table will display the joint life quotes in the first column, single life for life A in the second column and single life for life B in the third column. The premiums for a joint life quote and two single life quotes can be easily compared by selecting the radio button for the quotes you wish to compare. The amount with the difference is then displayed in the Compare Premiums window (see screen shot below).
9 9 From the comparison you can either go straight through and obtain the single illustration and apply by clicking on the link. Alternatively you can now include additional benefits like critical illness and waiver of premium by clicking on Quote additional benefits for the relevant type of quote. A new comparison quote will be produced including the additional benefits. The additional costs for the critical illness and waiver of premium are shown in separate columns. To see the effect on the premium of adding one or both of these benefits, simply tick the white box at the top of the appropriate column and the total column will be updated. Once the illustration has been received, you will be given the option to download the personalised Illustration for your client and other relevant documentation from the provider. Select the blue link to display the document. Select Details to get more information for a particular quote and create the personalised illustration. Clicking Apply will navigate you through to the provider s website. You will need to enter the username and password supplied by the provider and the majority of provider s will pre-populate the quote details into the application.
10 Whole of Life This area will allow you to create a comparison whole of life quote. Complete the client and product details. Once completed, select Get Quote. The comparison quote and illustrations can then be generated in the same way as previously explained for term quotes.
11 Multi Benefit This will allow you to create comparison and single company quotes for the providers that have their multi benefit quotes available on Webline. NB Multi Benefit quotes are now available through Synaptic Fusion Webline Protection enhanced user journey for multi benefit protection quotes. To get your free access, please contact our Sales Team on You will have the option of creating a comparison quote for the multi benefit products available on Webline. Alternatively you can create single company quotes by selecting one of the single provider forms. This guide will do a comparison quote but the functionality will be similar when doing single company quotes. Select the benefits from the drop down list to be included in the quote and select the Add button to include the benefit in the quote.
12 12 Once all the benefit details and client details have been entered, select Get Quote. The comparison quote and illustrations can then be generated in the same way as previously explained for term quotes Multi Policy This area will allow you to create up to four comparison quotes within the one quote request. You can do one quote request to quickly and easily compare premiums for different types of policies, for example the difference between a life only policy and a life and critical illness policy. The client screen will initially be displayed. Enter the client details. Up to four types of protection products can be included in this quote. Simply select the Policy buttons to add the details.
13 13 Enter the details of the policy within the Policy buttons. When the details have been entered, select Add this policy button at the bottom of the screen. As the policies are added, a summary will be available on the left hand side. Once all the details have been added, select Get Quote. The comparison table will display the results for the four types of policies. Select the radio button for a quote within each column to quickly total up the premiums for the various policies.
14 14 Once you have selected the quotes, the premiums will be totalled up in the Premium Summary on the left hand side. The comparison table can be printed by selecting Print this page button on the left hand side of the screen.
15 15 A re-quote can be done by selecting any of the buttons along the top of the screen and amending the details. The personalised single illustration and, if applicable the electronic application, can be accessed by clicking on the Get Illustration and Apply Online link for the chosen quote. 1.2 Annuities The single company quote screen will be displayed as previously explained in the term quotes. There are two types of annuity quotes available on Webline: Quick quote will create an annuity comparison quote using basic details. Detailed quote will create a more precise quote for the client, as it takes into consideration any medical history and the type of contract the pension fund is coming from and therefore requires more information to be recorded at this quote stage.
16 Quick Quote Enter the details. Only basic details are required for the quick quote. Once completed select Get Quote. The comparison table will display the annuity amounts available. Clicking on the value will display additional information, like commission. If the value is highlighted in blue there will be notes or warnings from the providers. Contracts not included will be displayed underneath the comparison table with the reason. You may want to click on the 0 values to see why the providers did not return a value.
17 17 Using the drop down lists in the columns will allow you to quickly see how the various features of an annuity can affect the overall value. reason. 18 Detailed Annuity Quote Enter the client details and if they have any medical history or health issues. If answered yes to medical history, complete the client s height and weight. Select Add Condition to record details of any medical conditions. There will be a series of questions to validate the medical condition. Answer the questions and select Next to move through the questions.
19 19 Once the medical conditions have been completed, enter the product details. You will initially need to select the type of pension providing the fund amount. Complete the quote details. Once completed, select Get Quote.
20 20 The comparison table will display the annuity amounts available. Clicking on the value will display additional information, like commission. 21 Health Income Protection Select health and income protection from the left hand menu. The income protection quote form will be displayed. Enter the client and product details. Once completed, select Get Quote.
22 22 The comparison quote will be displayed in premium order. The eapply column will display if the contract can be applied for electronically and if there is enhanced commission. At the bottom of the comparison table the Show Printable and Get PDF options will allow you to print and save the comparison table. Contracts that have not returned a quote will be displayed with the reason. A re-quote can be obtained by amending the quote form at the bottom of the screen.
23 23 Select the premium within the comparison table to display a summary of the quote above the comparison table. Select Next to generate the personalised illustration and product documentation. The comparison does not require the client s name. It will need to be entered at this stage to create the personalised illustration. Select Proceed to view the documentation.
24 24 The documentation can be viewed by selecting the blue links. Clicking Apply will navigate you through to the Providers website. You will need to enter the username and password supplied by the provider and the majority of provider s will prepopulate the quote details into the application.
25 Private Medical Insurance PMI quotes can be accessed through Webline using a third party. Select health and PMI from the left hand menu. Click on the blue link to be taken through to the third party to obtain the PMI quote. Once on the third party website, follow the on-screen instructions to obtain the PMI quote.
26 26 2 Electronic Applications Applying electronically through to the provider s extranet will prevent duplication of input. The majority of provider s will pre-populate the quote and client details through to their extranet. If you do not wish to apply electronically at the same time as obtaining the quote, the quote can be easily retrieved at a later date to then link through to the providers extranet to apply electronically. Please refer to the Retrieving quotes section 9 for more information. The comparison quote tables in Webline will clearly indicate what contracts can be applied for electronically and if enhanced commission is available. The eapply column clearly displays if you can apply electronically for the contract. It will also highlight if there is enhanced commission for applying electronically by including the extra percentage available. The apply option is available from the single company quote screen which can be accessed from a comparison quote. Alternatively, if the single quote has previously been generated, it can be retrieved from the track quotes area at a later date.
27 Applying When Quoting Create a quote as previously explained in the Quote section 7 of this guide. Select Next for the chosen contract. Confirm the quote documentation has been read and issued to the client. Selecting Apply will navigate you through to the provider s website.
28 28 You will need to enter your username and password and the majority of provider s will pre-populate the quote details. 2.3 Applying Using an Existing Quote All quotes are saved on Webline and can be retrieved at a later date, please refer to the Retrieving quotes section 9 for more information. There are two types of quotes that can be retrieved, a comparative quote and a single company quote. Electronic applications are available from single company quotes. If the quote being retrieved is a comparison quote, you will first need to re-quote and generate the single company quote. Select the quote reference to display the quote. Comparison only quotes are displayed as Quote only.
29 29 The comparison quote will be displayed. If any of the quote details need to be updated select Edit and requote. If no details need to be changed select Requote to ensure the quotes are up to date. An up to date comparison quote will be displayed, select Next for the chosen contract.
30 30 Confirm the quote documentation has been read and issued to the client. Selecting Apply will navigate you through to the Providers website. You will need to enter the username and password and the majority of provider s will pre-populate the quote details
31 31 3 Retrieving Quotes To retrieve a historic quote, select track quotes. You are provided with a number of ways in which to retrieve historic quotes. You can search by quote ref or surname for quotes. The left hand menu gives you the option of viewing all quotes. The vendor administrator account can view the quotes done by all users within the firm by selecting last quotes. To only view the quotes requested via the current account logged in, select my last quotes.
32 32 Select the Quote Ref to display the quote. The quotes will be listed indicating the stage that has been reached - Quote Only is a comparison quote. Illustration Downloaded is the single company quote. Extranet Application is the single company that has been linked through to a provider s extranet. A more specific search can be performed by searching on the clients surname and/or date of birth. From the left hand menu, select find quote. Enter the search criteria and select Find Quotes.
33 33 The quotes matching the search criteria will be displayed. Select the quote ref to view the quote. Selecting Quote Only will display the comparison quote. A single company quote cannot be generated from a retrieved comparison quote. You will firstly need to requote to get an updated comparison quote. A single company quote can then be generated as previously explained.
34 34 Illustration Downloaded and Extranet Application will display the single company quote. The personalised illustration will clearly display how long the quote is valid for. Please ensure the quote is valid before applying.
35 35 4 Trouble Shooting 4.1 The Ooops Message You may receive the Ooops message when your internet browser has saved a previous session and is trying to retrieve that session rather than starting a new one. If this happens we recommend clearing you browser history. Depending on which version of Internet Explorer you are running, please follow one of the sets of instructions. To find out which version of Internet Explorer you are running, please open Internet Explorer, press ALT+H, then click About Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer 6 (or earlier) 1. Open Internet Options by clicking on the Start button in the bottom left, then click on Control Panel, and then double click on the Internet Options icon. 2. Click on Delete files, tick the tick box delete all offline content, then click OK. 3. Click on Settings, tick the top tick box Every visit to the page, then type 1000 in the text box below, click OK 4. Select the Security tab, then select the Internet icon and click on Default Level unless it s greyed out. 5. Then select Trusted Sites. Click on the Sites button and then add and then close. Then select the Default Level button and change the level to low or drag the bar on the left down until Low appears. 6. Select the Privacy tab and click on Default unless it s greyed out. 7. Select the Advanced tab and click Restore Defaults. Internet Explorer 7 1. Open Internet Options by clicking on the Start button in the bottom left, then click on Control Panel, and then double click on the Internet Options icon. 2. Click on Delete, then click Delete files then click Yes and then Close. 3. Click on Settings under the Browsing History title, tick the top tick box every time I visit the webpage, and then type 1000 in the text box below, click OK. 4. Select the Security tab, then select the internet icon and click on Default Level unless it s greyed out. 5. Then select Trusted Sites. Click on the Sites button and then add and then close. Then select the Default Level button and change the level to low or drag the bar on the left down until Low appears. 6. Select the Privacy tab and click on Default unless it s greyed out. 7. Select the Advanced tab and click Restore advanced settings.
36 36 Internet Explorer 8 1. Open Internet Options by clicking on the Start button in the bottom left, then click on Control Panel, and then double click on the Internet Options icon. 2. Click on Delete, then select Temporary Internet Files, Cookies, and History. Deselect Preserve favourite website data. 3. Click on Settings under the Browsing History title, tick the top tick box every time I visit the webpage, and then type 1000 in the text box below, click OK. 4. Select the Security tab, then select the Internet icon and click on Default Level unless it s greyed out. 5. Then select Trusted Sites. Click on the Sites button and then add and then close. Then select the Default Level button and change the level to low or drag the bar on the left down until Low appears. 6. Select the Privacy tab and click on Default unless it s greyed out. 7. Select the Advanced tab and click Restore advanced settings. You will need to close all Internet browser windows and possibly reboot your computer for the settings to take effect. Please ensure that you also complete a brand new quote. If you continue to experience problems please contact the Synaptic Support Team on or by at 4.2 Adobe/PDF Problems If any of the documents on Webline do not display properly, you may need to reinstall your copy of Adobe. Please follow the instructions below: 1. Close all of your Internet Explorer windows (including Webline), then click on Start followed by Control Panel (or Start / Settings / Control Panel). 2. In the Control Panel, double click on Add/Remove Programs. Once the list has populated select Adobe Acrobat and click remove repeat this for any other versions of acrobat in the programs list. 3. Once all versions of Adobe have been removed, please go to once the page has loaded click on Get Adobe Reader. 4. Click on the yellow Continue button then on the next step untick Free Google Toolbar and click Download. A dialog box should appear, click on Run. 5. Once your browser has downloaded the installation file, it will ask you again if you want to run the application, click on Run again. 6. The installation file will start to download the required files. Once the download is complete, follow the installation. For further information on trouble shooting, please select the Info button when you are logged into Webline and select the relevant links from the left hand menu options.
