29 Coated sheets Overview of coating types Coated aluminium sheets are most often used in the building, sign and insulation sectors. In general there are two types of coated aluminium sheets: liquid painted and powder painted. Below is an overview of the two types and their characteristics: Definition Types Advantages Disadvantages Liquid painting Liquid paint is applied to the sheet with a roller and is then heat dried to harden the paint. Alloys and maintenance When using coated sheets in construction, Alumeco A/S recoends using sheets made of aluminium alloy EN AW-5754 as this has corrosion resistance properties. The use of other alloys invalidates the guarantee. The sheet surface should be maintained by being cleaned at least once a year to uphold the guarantee for the material supplied. 29
