Hazard Identification Messages Recognize Safety Symbols, Words and Labels The following symbols and labels are used throughout this manual to indicate immediate or potential hazards. Improper installation, operation and maintenance can void the warranty. WARNING Electric shock hazard. Can cause personal injury or equipment damage. Introduction This equipment must be properly grounded. Connections and service to the MicroTech III Air Handling Unit Controller and Machine-to-Machine Gateway must be performed only by personnel knowledgeable in the operation of the equipment being controlled. Static sensitive components. Can cause equipment damage. Discharge any static electrical charge by touching the bare metal inside the control panel before performing any service work. Never unplug cables, circuit board terminal blocks, or power plugs while power is applied to the panel. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with this instruction manual, may cause interference to radio communications. It has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class A digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a commercial environment. Operation of this equipment in a residential area is likely to cause harmful interference in which case the user will be required to correct the interference at his or her own expense. Daikin disclaims any liability resulting from any interference or for the correction thereof. 4 Introduction Product Description The Daikin Applied Intelligent Equipment solution provides facility and equipment management, monitoring, control, analysis, and decision-making via a secure, cloudcommunicating machine-to-machine gateway that captures, analyzes and delivers building and equipment information, and third party content (i.e. - weather, utility, and CRM data), to a user device (smart phone, tablet, etc.) via wireless (Wi-Fi, cellular) or local area network (LAN) connection. This manual contains instructions specific to replacing an existing Energy Management Module (EMM) gateway. Unpacking Material shipped loose A single Energy Management Module (EMM). Upon receiving, verify that all components are present, and notify the supplier of any shortage. Components Energy Management Module (EMM) The EMM is a factory tested and commissioned device, which monitors unit voltage, current, and power and transmits this data to the M2M Gateway for delivery to the cloud. The existing EMM will be removed and replaced by the new EMM. IM 1230 INTELLIGENT EQUIPMENT 4

Can cause personal injury or equipment damage. Prior to replacing Intelligent Equipment hardware, power must be removed from the unit. This means removing power at the breaker panel serving the unit, and following proper lockout/ tagout procedures at said breaker panel for the duration of the install. Power should not be reapplied until all electrical interconnections have been made and verified. This equipment must be properly grounded. Connections and service to the MicroTech III Air Handling Unit Controller, Machine-to-Machine Gateway and Energy Management Module must be performed only by personnel knowledgeable in the operation of the equipment being controlled. Removal Disconnecting Existing wiring interconnections Removal and Installation Instructions Prior to replacing the EMM, power must be removed from the unit. Power must be removed at the breaker panel serving the unit, and proper lockout/tagout procedures should be followed for the duration of the install. After removing unit power at the breaker panel, the installer must verify the absence of power at the unit using a multimeter. Only if power has been verified absent, should the technician continue the replacement process. EMM Connection to M2M The M2M Gateway is connected to the Energy Management Module (EMM) via USB. Remove the USB cable connection from the EMM USB port (Figure 1). Figure 1: USB Connection Static sensitive components. Can cause equipment damage. Never unplug cables, circuit board terminal blocks, or power plugs while power is applied to the panel. Sharp edges on sheet metal and fasteners can cause personal injury. This equipment must be installed, operated, and serviced only by an experienced installation company and fully trained personnel. IM 1230 INTELLIGENT EQUIPMENT 5

6 Removal and Installation Instructions Connection of EMM to CT s The high voltage side of the EMM has a hinged cover, which must be opened. First, remove the two installation screws (Figure 2), then flip the cover open. Figure 2: Hinged cover screw locations Connection of EMM to Line Voltage and Ground The EMM is connected to Line Voltage through the Fuse Block pre-installed on the mounting bracket. The conductors are colored as follows: VinA = Tan, VinB = Violet, and VinC = Orange (Figure 4). It is critical that these connections are replicated on the new EMM. In addition, the EMM is connected to a ground lug in the enclosure by a terminal labeled, GND. This conductor is green. Disconnect these four conductors from the EMM using a precision screwdriver. Figure 4: EMM Connection to Fuse Block The CT s have built-in output conductors, which are connected to the EMM. Each black conductor is connected to an EMM terminal labeled, CT, while each white conductor must be connected to the corresponding terminal labeled, A, B, or C. The two conductors from each CT are connected to the same terminal set, i.e. CT and A, CT and B, or CT and C. For each CT, the white wire must go to terminal labeled CT and the black wire are connected to the associated lettered terminal (Figure 3). Figure 3: Connection of CT s to EMM Prior to removing existing CT connections from the EMM, use wire-marking tape to identify the correct terminals for each pair of conductors. It is critical that the existing CT s are connected to the correct terminals on the new EMM. After marking the EMM conductors, use a precision screwdriver to unscrew each CT terminal, then remove the associated conductor. IM 1230 INTELLIGENT EQUIPMENT 6

7 Removal and Installation Instructions Removing Existing EMM from Bracket The existing mounting bracket, which contains the EMM and fuse block, is mounted to the inside of the control enclosure. Depending on the cabinet layout, the bracket may be located in several different places within the control enclosure. Typically, however, it will be located on the top of the enclosure. Prior to removing the existing EMM from this bracket, ensure that all wiring interconnections have been removed, as described in the preceding section. In addition, make note of the orientation of the existing EMM on the mounting bracket. The new EMM must be installed in the same orientation. Remove the existing EMM by unscrewing the Phillips head screws located at the four corners of the EMM (Figure 5). Set these screws aside, as they will be reused for the new EMM. Figure 5: Mounting screw locations Installation Installing New EMM on Bracket Remove the new EMM from the box and align it on the bracket in the same orientation as the previous EMM. Secure it to the mounting bracket using the four the Phillips head screws saved from the existing EMM. Reconnecting Wiring interconnections Reconnect all wiring interconnections that were removed during the replacement including: EMM Connection to M2M Connection of EMM to CT s Connection of EMM to Line Voltage and Ground Troubleshooting Energy Management Module does not power up Verify that EMM is properly connected to power Verify there is proper voltage at VinA, VinB and VinC terminals Contact Daikin Applied IM 1230 INTELLIGENT EQUIPMENT 7
