3 Introduction This specification is designed to provide you with everything you need to know to deliver this course at your centre. Any further information can be obtained by contacting your Advantage account manager. Award Overview An informative course aimed at providing the training and information required by law. The course is a requirement for all food handlers and extends to all those who handle, store, prepare or serve food and beverages. Award Essentials Learning Hours This Award is delivered over 3 learning hours. Award Level The Award has been developed at Level 1. Entry Guidance There are no formal entry requirements for this Award. Progression Opportunities Progression options for learners achieving this Award are the Advantage Level 2 Award in Managing and Supervising Risk Accreditation and Certification This Award has been endorsed and accredited by Advantage Accreditation. Certification by Advantage is available for students successfully completing the Award learning outcomes. Award mapped to National Occupational Standards This award has links to the provisions of Regulation (EC) 852/2004 of the European Parliament on the Hygiene of Foodstuffs, the Food Safety Act 1990, Food Hygiene (England) Regulations 2005, and The Food Hygiene (England) (Amendment) Regulations

5 Trainer Requirements Nominated trainers must have competency in the area they are teaching, in addition to a teaching qualification. Applications will be reviewed individually to ensure compliance.
