Learning in a context like a theme park and zoo can make a subject more memorable and engaging for students, so whatever your age range or subject, we can help. Whether you want to find out more about dinosaurs, animal habitats, the science around rollercoasters, or how to run and market a successful business; we re here to ensure your visit is both fun and educational! For your peace of mind, we ve been awarded the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge so you can be rest assured that you are getting an excellent workshop and visit through the education department. 3 Primary Workshops Key Stage 1 & 2 1 hour workshops Dinosaur Discovery Using live reptiles and bio-artefacts to represent dinosaurs, your pupils will be thoroughly engaged with this hands-on, fascinating session. Become a Palaeontologist whilst discovering the dinosaurs that roamed the earth millions of years ago. Find out what the different species liked to eat, how their skin would have felt and how they moved. We will also perform a mini dig to unearth some real fossils! Rollercoaster Forces Habitats and Adaptation Find out how animals from across the world adapt to their habitats by looking into evolution. Your pupils will look into some of the major habitats across the globe and discover how animals in those locations are adapted to survive there. Plus we will look at some of nature s weirdest creatures and why they look the way they do. Have the chance to meet real-living animals to study them more closely. Have you ever wondered how a rollercoaster works? In this active session your pupils will find out why rollercoasters make their distinctive rumble around the track as well as why it feels so fast and thrilling. Get to grips with forces such as gravity, air resistance, g-forces and friction that will explain everything, undertaking a series of fun experiments using K nex! A 1.5 hour combined workshop- Creative Coastersis also available which covers aspects of both the above sessions and includes the chance to build a rollercoaster using k nex! Rollercoaster Design Do you want to know how we start designing and building rollercoasters? After finding all about the fascinating world of thrill ride design, your pupils will be put to the task of creating their very own unique rollercoaster. From the design stage, your pupils will really discover how rollercoasters work through engaging experiments using K nex and real designer resources.

4 Secondary and College Key Stage 3-5 Marketing at Drayton Manor 1 hour workshops Within this interactive workshop, students look into how Drayton Manor Park and Hotel remains competitive through our strategic marketing campaigns and promotional methods, including the importance of digital marketing. Take a detailed look at the marketing mix through a case study of advertising one of our thrill rides, as well as looking at how we evaluate each campaign s success. Workshops covering SWOT or PESTLE are available on request. Customer Service at Drayton Manor In this informative session, students will reflect on why customer service is so important to a business and how to meet our customer s needs and expectations. We also look at aspects of market research and gaining feedback, as well as how we can ensure good customer service through training and motivating our staff. Finally, we will study our complaint process and how we can use complaints to improve our overall guest experience. A combined Marketing and Customer Service talk is also available that covers aspects of both these workshops. ICT at Drayton Manor In this fascinating workshop we take students on a journey of how ICT is used across Drayton Manor Park and Hotel. Find out about the network that keeps us running, as well as the essential information systems like our ticket and till system. Explore website design by looking at our own websites and how they were created as well as where and what we use for graphic design. Finally, we will delve into rollercoaster control systems to see how we keep you safe using ICT on our range of rides and attractions.

5 Outreach we will come to you! We know how difficult it can be to organise a school visit, so instead of worrying about getting here we can visit you instead! The majority of our sessions are available as outreach workshops at selected times across the year. If your school, college or university is within a 20 mile distance from Drayton Manor and you are interested in having our education team come to you, please contact us to discuss this further. Reward Visits Make your school visit to the park extra fun with one of our 30 minute wonder workshops, available for all ages! Meet the Creatures In this short and lively workshop, your pupils will meet a range of exotic creatures, including lizards, snakes and bugs, and discover amazing facts about them! Pupils will be able to touch all the animals, and will also be able to handle some amazing bioartefacts such as hippo teeth, leopard fur and reindeer antlers, plus much more. Animal Presents Pupils will get to make a food present for one of the animals within our fascinating zoo, such as our meerkats or primates, and watch them enjoy it too! You will get exclusive Q&A time to learn much more about your favourite animal. Education Activity Days Join the fun during our exclusive out-of-season education activity days, which are available between November-March - even when the theme park is closed! These days are tailor-made just for your class, where you will be guided for the day by one of our education officers and have the park all to yourself. Even though all rides, cafes and gift shops will be closed, you will have access to a range of fun activities, including interactive workshops, zoo tours, meet the creature sessions, theme park detectives, rollercoaster sketching and possibly opening our 4D cinema for a private viewing just for your school!

6 Uniformed Group Experiences Our education team is now offering exciting new learning experiences for uniformed groups, such as Beavers, Brownies, Cubs, Scouts and many more. All of our experiences contribute to obtaining badges! Scales and Tails Evenings AVAILABLE ON SELECTED DATES Your group can meet fascinating animals as well as make food presents for our resident Meerkat troop. Whilst watching the meerkats open your special gift, you can ask all your burning questions to find out more. Creative Coaster Days AVAILABLE ON SELECTED DATES Come along and learn all about how our rides work, taking a deeper look at real ride parts, and of course experiencing our rides as well. The day also involves building challenges with K nex and is rounded off by some relaxation time in our fascinating 15 acre zoo. Animal Agent Days AVAILABLE ON SELECTED DATES This is the chance to be a zoo keeper for the day and get closer to some of our amazing zoo animals! Children can prepare food for them, make presents for our cheekiest animals, and help to clean their enclosures, as well as feed some of the zoo favourites and gets hands on with our smaller creatures too. Education Open Days These are available on several dates across the year, and are a fantastic opportunity for teachers thinking about having an education session at Drayton Manor to find out more about what we do. During our Education Open Days you will meet the education team and learn about the workshops on offer, how to book a school visit with us, and have free time to explore our park and zoo to conduct your risk assessments.
