OSS Oil Sludge Separating System Treatment of Oil Based Waste by OSS
Introduction Mass production and consumption based on oil resources have caused environmental problems that still remain unsolved. There is no doubt, whether a developed nation or developing country, this is an urgent matter that should be solved. We, LSM Co., Ltd. (LSM) aims to contribute to the solution of this issue by promoting OSS. LSM has acquired OSS technology from NRS Corporation who successfully developed a revolutionary jet injection oil separating system (so called OSS). OSS is the only one technique for treating oil sludge and it recovers more than 99% of the oil content from oil sludge. OSS is a device wherein, under an oxygen free condition, superheated stream at an ultrasonic speed of Mach-Two breaks the oil sludge down into its separate elements directly, evaporating the oil and water contents, and instantly separating oil content and residue from the sludge.
Table of contents OSS Technology Summary Principle of drying Principle of solid-liquid separation System Flow/Principle of process chamber External appearance of OSS Sampling separated liquid and solid from oil sludge Device component and basic specification Recovery & evaluation of the materials processed Calculation basis of energy consumption Market requirement Introduction of LSM
Summary This is an oil sludge treatment device, the only one of its kind in the world. Achievement of oil recovery that do not include heavy metal Achievement of residue oil ratio would be 1~0.01% Consecutive treatment and operation Environment-friendly device Only steam is used as a processing energy. Chemicals and biological treatment are not used No generation of exhaust gas, thus no air pollution Device with a high degree of perfection Simple composition and high maintainability High processing capability by using only small-sized energy. Easy mass-production
Principle of drying In addition to the above mentioned principle, OSS can make a range of A>B small to accelerate speed B by vibrating energy which generates shock waves.
Principle of solid-liquid separation Superheated steam: Heat energy of steam superheated to a temperature of more than 500 jet-propelled from special nozzles and kinetic energy of shock waves generated from the injection at a speed of more than Mach 2 are utilized. Speedy heat exchange and colliding shock wave: By colliding with superheated steam at an ultra-sonic speed of Mach, the materials processed are instantly separated to oil component and solid substance. At the same time, heat exchange is performed. Clean energy: All the energy to be processed is obtained by the steam. Recovery: The solid substance of heavy metal, sand, asphalting and resin with a lot of molecular weight in the oil sludge is recovered by Cyclone.Oil substance vaporized is liquefied and recovered by a scrubber.
System Flow / Principle of Process Chamber Integration of compact system centering on Process Chamber

Device component and basic specification Item Process capacity of oil sludge Steam volume to be used Electric power Fuel Dimension of whole device Weight Basic specification kg/h kg/h 6.5kw/h 28L/h(kerosene) L4m x D2.5m x H2.6m Approx. 5,500kg *In case of huge volume processing, please note that multiple units can be used in parallel with the originally installed unit. *Depending on the characteristic of the material to be processed, the process capacity may be subject to change.
Recovery & evaluation of the materials processed Materials processed Amount processed 300kg Oil content Approx. 20% Moisture content Approx. 30% uoil content of the solids separated from oil sludge is less than 1%, which is safe to return it to its natural environment. uthe content of oil recovered was recognized that it has been equivalent to middle distillate, which heavy metals are not included. The specification depends on the characteristics of waste to be processed. uthe oil recovered is recognized to use as a fuel oil. Analytical data of the recovery oil Density(25/4 ) Viscosity(50 ) 6.2m m2 /s Materials recovered Solids Recovery volume 151kg Oil content 0.7% Oil Recovery volume Water content 59kg Not measured yet Water content 0.12 wt% Sulfur 0.92 wt% Ashes 0.06 wt% Carbon residual 0.30 wt% Fluid point 17.0 Flash point 83.0 Total calorie 44,830 kj/kg Analytical method: Based on JIS of petroleum
Calculation basis of energy consumption
Market requirement No suitable processing device in the market. Enterprises have been negative in processing oil sludge that no profit is made. The traditional methods are not satisfying to meet environmental requirements. High investment and running cost involved. A new technology suitable to the market requirement is being awaited. A low-priced and environment-friendly process technology is being awaited. That is, oil can be recovered, investment is less as well as running cost is reasonable. LSM provides you with a process technology that the market has hoped for a long time

Oil Sludge Settling the top clear layer the top clear layer Oil Well Storage Tank Crude Oil Carrier OBM Sludge Crude Oil Sludge Oil production country Ship maintenance yard Oil importing country There are two types of Oil sludge in oil field. One is OBM (Oil Based Mud) sludge and another is crude oil sludge. OBM sludge is discharged from drilling site during drilling the well and crude oil sludge is discharged from oil production field, ships and refinery. Crude oil sludge from storage tanks or ships normally has more than 25% oil content. On the other hand, OBM sludge has less than 25% oil content. Because OBM is treated by centrifugal system and is disposed as after decanter sludge, oil content of OBM sludge is less than 25%.Therefore, for treating OBM, it is enough to set up only OSS system. For treating crude oil sludge, however, it is efficient to set up mixing tank, (settling tank), process tank and centrifuge system before treating by OSS and cooling tower system after OSS. And, of course, it is also necessary to set up steam boiler system, water treatment system, and material handling equipments such as pumps and conveyers between the systems.
