1 The world-wide demand for aeronautical engineering technicians and engineers is forecasted to rise exponentially over the next decade. This growth is driven by the geographical distribution of the world fleet. The expected deliveries will mainly be going to Asia/Pacific(Figure 2). But when looking at the top 5 countries ordering aircraft, India is listed in the top 5 countries (Figure 3). This country with a population of 1.2 billion with over 300 million strong middle class population with ever increasing disposable income influencing consumption and travel. This tremendous growth potential accounts for as less than 2% Indians travel presently by air per year. With long term growth prospects slowing in mature markets, the global aerospace industries have a great stake in supporting the development of vibrant aviation sectors in emerging markets such as India. As the Asian carriers spread their wings in this way, the range and nature of skills training and education becomes even more diverse, making for additional challenges for governments and industry in their efforts to provide adequate facilities. The overall investment needed in commercial and defense aerospace in India is likely to be between US$ billion in the forthcoming decade. There is a constant upgradation/modernization of both Metro and Non-metro airports and a new layer of linkages with 2-tier/ 3-tier cities. With the development of Greenfield airports there is a potential airport infrastructure investment of $ 10 billion over the next 3 to 5 years. US companies are now focusing on the up gradation and modernization of CNS/ATM systems by Airport Authority of India
