4 Initiative Impact Ofsted Links Staff training in PE Staff receive high quality training to inform their teaching. Increased teaching skills and confidence in the specific areas of PE. Staff are able to deliver courses and qualifications to students. Staff involved; Miss K. Taylor, Mr M. Journeaux and other local partners alternative sporting activities Fully subsidised variety of after school PE clubs All KS1 & KS2 Students were offered free after school sporting activities. 32% of KS1 students have already benefited from the expertise of external coaches and local club links so far this year. This is an increase on 14% from last year. 30% of KS2 students have benefited from extracurricular clubs. This is a decreased percentage from last year and has come about due to the reduction of space. This has been highlighted in the mid-year review and more clubs are due to start in the summer months. Increase in participation rates More inclusive PE alternative sporting activity and other local partners. Teachers should raise their expectations of where more able pupils are capable of achieving and provide them with challenging, competitive activities that lead to high standards of performance

5 Club links providing further sporting opportunities for students out of school hours. Increased physical activity participation levels out of curriculum hours. Employment of local coaches to work alongside PE staff within specific sporting areas. Students receive high quality PE lessons within specific sporting areas. Williamson and other local partners Increase in participation rates alternative sporting activities Entrance fees for local competitions All students within KS2 have competed within the local area in at least one sporting event. Providing increased opportunities for competitive sport and team play. Increase in participation rates. Increase the success in competitive school sport

6 Equipment & Facilities Students are able to participate in a range of different activities within school, use the correct equipment for their age and ability. Alternative and traditional sports are catered for allowing for fully inclusive units of work. Examples of equipment in use; Indoor hockey equipment Handballs Pop lacrosse Tri-Golf alternative sporting activities Increase in participation rates More inclusive PE Swimming All students within KS2 attended swimming lessons at Littledown swimming pool. Parkfield School believes that, due to the location on the coast, it is important that children are taught to swim beyond the minimum National Curriculum requirements with additional and enhanced swimming activities. All students benefited from a ratio of 1:7 during their 6 week swim course. Students are working towards achieving their 25m before the end of KS2. The below have already met this target; 24% of Year 4 and other local partners. More inclusive PE Increase swimming provision so all students can swim by the end of KS2 The Department for Education states pupils must be taught to swim 25m unaided before they leave primary Ofsted comments that the use of money to support struggling swimmers is good practice.

7 81% of Year 5 70% of Year 6 Swimming lessons were subsidised by the Sports Premium Budget to cover the cost of hiring an additional instructor to work with underachieving students. Qualifications All Year 5 students are able to achieve the Youth Sports Trust Playmakers Award All primary students benefit from additional PE lessons and termly events put on by Secondary Sports Leaders Students are able to further their communication and leadership skills.
