9 Location: Southwestern zone of the rhyolite mountain massif from Nohfelden (10 x 4 Km) Primary origin: During volcanic activity of the permian 260 mio. years ago. Quarry Leisberg 1. Magma came up to the surface in the region of Nohfelden and moved in southwestern direction to Oberthal. 2. Begin of decomposition to kaolin (very little at Leisberg area) 3. Second volcanic eruption, intrusion of pitchstone in the rhyolite Leisberg was not touched

19 M-357 K-Feldspar Opportunities and advantages: - Low Fe2O3 and TiO2 content - High K2O content - Interesting % content among K2O, Na2O and CaO - Quick sinterization - High white color level - Low firing shrinkage (very interesting for low thickness and large size tiles 45 x 90, 60 x 120, plates / sheets tiles, ) it gives less mechanical stress and strains, less mechanical tensions - Consistancy batch after batch - Extends sintering paillet (90 C) for GP tiles as main reason german and french tile producers use it in combination with sodium feldspar - On customer request, possibility to add external raw materials to modify ceramic parameters
