4 The Golf Courses Titirangi (Auckland) This is a world-class golf course situated in a beautiful bushland setting between the lower slopes of the Waitakere Ranges and the Manukau Harbour. Founded in 1909, it is a private members club but offers limited playing opportunities for New Zealand and overseas visitors. Titirangi is ranked as one of New Zealand s top courses and is the only one in the country designed by Dr. Alister MacKenzie. After designing Titirangi in 1927, MacKenzie went on to design some of the world s top courses including Augusta, Cypress Point and Royal Melbourne. Carrington (Karikari Peninsula) The tournament standard 18 hole Carrington Golf Course was inaugurated on December 15, 2003 and designed by American golf course designer Matt Dye. The course is designed to accommodate golfers of all abilities and offers a great variety of hole play, from one of the longest par five's in New Zealand at 605 metres (667 yards), to one of the shortest par three's at 113 metres (132 yards) over water. Carrington also offers fine dining and lounge facilities, a guest lodge, tennis courts, a clay target shooting range and a swimming pool and spa. The sweeping ocean views provide a spectacular back drop to the Estate's many activities. Kauri Cliffs (Bay of Islands) Kauri Cliffs was designed and built by David Harman of Golf Course Consultants, Orlando, Florida. The par 72 championship golf course measures 7,119 yards/6,510 metres and offers five sets of tees to challenge every skill level. Fifteen holes view the Pacific Ocean, six of which are played alongside cliffs which plunge to the sea. The beautiful inland holes wind through marsh, forest and farmland. The golf complex includes a world-class practice range, putting and chipping greens, a well-stocked golf shop and ladies' and mens' locker rooms. Gulf Harbour (Auckland) This is a great layout to rival any international course. The resort hosted the prestigious World Cup in Designed by Robert Trent Jones, who likens it to the illustrious Pebble Beach in California, the course played host to the 2005 Holden New Zealand Open where Niclas Fasth of Sweden beat many of the world s top golfers. It also played host to the Blue Chip NZ Open in November The course is located 35kms north of central Auckland. Page 4 of 7
