In less than 2 hours the UK produces enough waste to fill the Albert Hall. The energy saved by recycling one aluminium drink can is enough to run a television for three hours. 4 School News Yellow Woods Challenge results A big thank you to all the schools that took part in the Yellow Woods challenge. There were 39 schools who took part in total. The schools had to collect as many of last years yellow pages for recycling as they could. In total all the schools managed to collect an incredible 6287 yellow pages. First Place The winners Purley C E Infants School collected an amazing 767 yellow pages and there are only 37 pupils in the whole school! Second Place Enborne C E with just 51 pupils managed to collect 229 yellow pages Third Place Robert Sandilands Primary with 228 pupils collected 650 yellow pages

Please do not put gas canisters of any size in your wheelie bin.these can be taken to Pinchington Lane Household Waste Recycling Centre Newbury or Island Road Civic Amenity Site, Reading. please remember! Please put your recycling and rubbish at your kerbside by 7.30am, ready for collection Please leave your wheelie bin with the handles facing the road Please leave your baskets where the crews can see them Please do not overload your wheelie bin with heavy items Please double wrap sharp objects or broken glass community litter picks The Council can loan litter pickers, hi-vis vests, protective gloves and supply black sacks to groups that want to carry out community litter picks. In addition to this the council can collect and dispose of the rubbish after the event.the publication Litter Organising a Clean Up is available at and provides guidance on getting the most out of your litter event. 6 Kerbside Recycling Collection Calendar - Week 2 The kerbside recycling scheme is a fortnightly service. Please put your baskets out on the same day as your rubbish collection on the weeks highlighted Bold.In your baskets, please only put out materials for recycling; we will collect glass, paper, textiles and cans.
