3 ALL CLUBS PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING This is a Smoke, Alcohol & Dog Free Event! This will be strictly enforced. THE OFFICE HAS BEEN INSTRUCTED THAT UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ARE THEY TO ACCEPT INCOMPLETE OR LATE ENTRIES. THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED. Class entries must be submitted via by the closing date of 5.00pm Sunday 31st July To facilitate the ease of submitting your club s entry online we suggest that your club manager fill in a paper entry pack prior & have it on hand when completing the online entry. Full payment, correctly completed signed declarations, along with commentary forms & qualifying tests are to be submitted to the PCAWA office by 5.00pm Sunday 31st July 2016 President/Secretary & the Chief Coach must sign off on each club s entry. Each rider having attended three rallies within the period 22nd July 2015 to 31 st July 2016 on the horse rider combination(s). All nominated riders are current Financial Members of the stated Pony Club & the PCAWA Please note, tests & workout sheets are available on the Pony Club WA website For your convenience we have enclosed blank sample entry forms for you to fill in at your club. A nominated dressage entry coordinator may then use these forms to assist with the completion of the online entry. By entering the Go for 2&5 State Dressage Championships 2016 you are consenting to having your photograph taken & to those photographs being published on the Pony Club WA website or in other promotional material if Pony Club WA so chooses. Rider s age is calculated as at 1 st January The Organising committee reserve the right to merge and/or split classes and change times where they see fit depending on the number of entries. 3

4 A programme of events is attached, along with a description of the various competitions, & any rules that are specific to those events. Please read the information enclosed carefully. GENERAL INFORMATION RULES Riders must be entered in their age group only. No Dogs Allowed as per PCAWA policy. All freestyle tests must be ridden in costume. Riders presenting NOT in costume will NOT be permitted to ride. There will be no exceptions. For Team Events riders MUST present as a team with their Club Manager to be gear checked. Prelim/ Novice Freestyle qualification guidelines: To qualify for the PCAWA event a horse/rider combination must have completed 1 Preliminary test with a percentage score of 57% or better. Test to be from a recognised competition/event or the dressage phase of a competition where an EA test is used & must be judged by either an EWA or PCAWA approved Judge. Clubs may enter only 2 riders per age bracket. For the 17 Years & over age bracket - Clubs may enter more than 2 riders, if sufficient entries are received, this age bracket will be further broken down. Elementary & Elementary Freestyle qualification guidelines: To qualify for this event a horse/rider combination must have completed 1 elementary test with a percentage score of 57% or better. Test to be from a recognised competition/event or the dressage phase of a competition where an EA test is used & must be judged by either an EWA or PCAWA approved Judge. Clubs may enter only 2 riders per age bracket. For the 17 Years & over age bracket - Clubs may enter more than 2 riders, if sufficient entries are received, this age bracket will be further broken down. In the event of insufficient numbers, the associate and members will be combined. Kanandah, Gingamurrah, Prix Caprilli, Wanda Nelson & Stuart Harkness Qualification Guidelines: Horse/rider combinations must have achieved 57% or better in any Preliminary test to qualify. Test to be from a recognised competition/event or the dressage phase of a competition where an EA test is used & must be judged by either an EWA or PCAWA approved Judge. Pas De Deux Prelim / Novice: Horse/rider combination must have achieved 57% or better in any Preliminary test to qualify. Test to be from a recognised competition/event or the dressage phase of a competition where an EA test is used & must be judged by either an EWA or PCAWA approved Judge. Pas De Deux Elementary: Horse/rider combination must have achieved 57% or better in any Elementary test to qualify. Test to be from a recognised competition/event or the dressage phase of a competition where an EA test is used & must be judged by either an EWA or PCAWA approved Judge. This test must not include movements from a level higher than Elementary. Riders may only compete in one Pas De Deux event. Medium & Medium Freestyle Test Qualification Guidelines: Horse/rider combination must have achieved 57% or better in a medium test. Test to be from a recognised competition/event or the dressage phase of a competition where an EA test is used & must be judged by either an EWA or PCAWA approved Judge. In the case of insufficient entries, members and associates will NOT be separated Plunkett Qualification Guidelines: For Preliminary level, horse/rider combination must have achieved 57% or better in any Preliminary test. For Novice level, riders must have achieved 57% or better in any Novice test. Test to be from a recognised competition/event or the dressage phase of a competition where an EA test is used & must be judged by either an EWA or PCAWA approved Judge. Prep test: This is not a championship event, this is an encouragement event. Maximum of 3 entrants per club per age group. 10 years & Under, years, years, 17 years & Over. Riders competing in the prep test are not allowed to compete in any championship events, with the exception of Gingamurrah / Kanandah & Musical Ride. Classes may be split further or combined at the committee s discretion depending on the number of entrants more spots may be available. There is no qualifying dressage test for this class Musical Ride: there is NO qualifying dressage test score required for this class. 4

5 A copy of the qualifying test must accompany the entry payment to Pony Club WA office. Tests from 2015 dressage championships can be used. Qualifying period is from the close of entries of championships 2015 to the close of entries for the 2016 championships. A commentary form must be filled in for all freestyle entries & is to be sent to the office along with test music or event payment. EA Rules for Dressage will apply except in respect of Pony Club WA Gear Checking requirements. Gear is as defined in the current PCAWA Gear Checking Manual. It is recommended that every Club have a copy of the EA Rules for Dressage. These can be purchased from the EA Office or downloaded from the EA website Pony Club uniform to be worn (or Zone uniform in Zone events). Freestyles & Pas de Deux to be ridden in costume. Age of Rider as at the 1 ST JANUARY 2016 All nominated riders are current Financial Members of the stated Pony Club & the PCAWA. Horse & Rider combination to have attended three working rallies of a Pony Club since 22 nd July 2015, two of which must have been at the Club which they will be representing. A competitor is allowed to enter two horses/ponies for the competition. A rider may only compete once in each event. A horse may only been ridden by one rider for the duration of the event. Warm Up Etiquette will be strictly adhered to. Please see attached Warm up Etiquette Rules. No coaching from the sidelines will be tolerated. Any breach of this will result in elimination From the start of the competition weekend, until the end, there is to be no other persons apart from the nominated rider to be riding horses/ponies which are entered in the weekend, failure to comply will result in elimination. ENTRIES Attempt to occur after results are posted, this will be determined by the committee on the days of competition. A horse/pony is only allowed to do three dressage tests per day (including the Musical Ride). It is a CONDITION OF ENTRY that all winning riders must thank in writing, within two weeks of the Championships, the Sponsors of their winning class & a copy be forwarded to PCAWA for our records. Clubs & or Zones may enter a maximum of two pairs/teams in any Club or Zone event (with the exception of the Oakover Terena Musical Ride see below) although the final number of entries will be at the discretion of the Organising Committee. Please indicate your 1st & 2nd Teams on the entry form. In the event of excess entries, the second Team may be balloted out. Entries that are not accepted due to the number of entries will be refunded in full. A Club may only submit one Team in the Oakover Terena Musical Ride & one in the Formation Ride. Riders may compete in one of these events only. No member or horse/pony may compete in both the Kanandah & Gingamurrah Trophy. Riders taking part in the Elementary & Medium freestyle tests are not eligible to ride in the Stuart Harkness Horse Pairs or Wanda Nelson Pony Pairs or prelim/ novice freestyle. Riders competing in the Prep test are only eligible to compete in the Kanandah, Gingamurrah and Musical ride. Closing date for entries is 5.00 PM SUNDAY 31 st July NO LATE, INCOMPLETE OR FAXED ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. Entries are to be submitted online to Appropriate entry fees, & the PCAWA Championship Declaration Forms, Commentary Forms & copy of tests must be submitted to the office by 5.00 PM SUNDAY 31 st July These may be received either via scanned to dressage@pcawa.com or via the post to PCAWA 303 Cathedral Ave, Brigadoon A rider may compete on two horses, riders can only compete once in each class. A Doctor s Certificate or Veterinary Certificate is required to obtain a refund. Refunds will be subject to an administration fee of $ Certificates need to be at the office no later than 1 week after the last day of the event. Scratching s must be in written form e.g.: via to dressage@pcawa.com before the Championships or by filling out a scratching form at the Marshalls Office during the event. 5

6 Scratching s occurring in the duration of the event must be communicated through the Club Manager to the Dressage Committee. If a combination scratches due to a medical reason, clearance must be provided to reinstate combination back into the competition if horse/rider is deemed fit. In the event of a rider scratching/withdrawing, the Rider/Club is still responsible for the allocated helper duty, if this is not adhered to, the club can be subject to disqualification from the competition. Closing date for Musical CD-Rs (not CD-RW) is Wednesday 3 rd August 2016 no later. Musical CD-R only submitted after 3 rd August 2016, will be subject to a compulsory late fee of $ HELPERS Each club will be allocated to run an event (e.g. supply writer, marshaller, gear checker etc.) (smaller Clubs may be amalgamated or allocated individual jobs). Club manager to coordinate roles for their clubs. It is the responsibility of all club manager to ensure their members fulfil the club s duties as failure to do so will lead to club elimination. It is the responsibility of each club manager to ensure helper duties are evenly distributed across the club s helpers. The club manager must make sure each helper is both aware & capable of carrying out their given task. Helper duties allocated to a club will be done on the basis of the number of entries per club (1 helper per rider). In the event of a rider scratching/withdrawing the rider/club is still responsible for the allocated helper duty & must liaise with Dressage committee. Please fill out event helper form & return via dressage@pcawa.com or post by close of entries. SUBSTITUTION In the case of injury after the closing date, any application for substitution of a Team member or horse, must be made to the Dressage Sub Committee & such application will be given full consideration, provided the substitute horse/rider qualify. In the event of withdrawal of Team members from the first Zone Team Challenge, members from the second Team cannot be used to replace them. In such situations the reserve Riders are to be used to fill the positions. PRESENTATIONS Attempt to occur after results are posted, this will be determined by the committee on the days of competition. TIME OF TESTS Times will be allocated for tests to be ridden. Whilst every attempt will be made to adhere to start times in the draw, it is the club manager/riders parent s responsibility to be aware via the marshal/gear checker if an arena is running ahead or behind schedule. If the arena is running ahead, competitors may be asked to ride no more than 5 minutes ahead of posted time. Refusal to do so may incur elimination. Riders must ride to their time, refusal of this will result in elimination from the class. Presentation to the gear checker must occur at least 10 minutes prior to test time Please ensure you are ready to enter the arena on your test time, this makes for a more efficient day ABUSIVE LANGUAGE The use of bad and/or abusive language by a competitor, the club manager responsibility to be aware via the marshal/ gear checker. This may result in elimination. PROTESTS Written protests, accompanied by $50.00, must be lodged within 30 minutes of the scores being posted or within 30 minutes of the happening giving rise to the protest. To be lodged with the chair of dressage committee & the committee will vote. 6

7 Please Note that the PCAWA Dressage Committee reserves the right to make any alterations as they see fit to either conditions of entry or events on the day. IMPORTANT DATES Close of entries (all events) 5:00pm Sunday 31 st July 2016 to Entry payment in full, correctly completed signed declarations, along with commentary forms & qualifying tests are to be submitted to the PCAWA office by 5.00pm 31 st July Entries may be paid via Cheque to the office or via EFT to Act Number with PC Name & Dressage Champs. Please Note: CD-R s for Musical Ride, Pas de Deux & Freestyle to be submitted to PCAWA Headquarters by Wednesday August 3 rd CD s must be clearly labelled & must be in a labelled hard case, 1 CD-R per case only. It is the Rider/Club s responsibility to ensure that the music is correct & of a quality that can be heard in the indoor arena & that CD s are correctly labelled in the following format riders name, club, event, age, theme, contact number. There will be a fine of $50.00 imposed for those who send in blank CD s A late fee (for Music CD-R only, not Entries) of $50 will be applied to the Club/Rider concerned. Resolution C04/12 applies to this championship: That Pony Club Members of a Club outside a 150 kilometre radius of the Perth GPO are eligible for a 20% reduction in ENTRY FEE for all State Championships held at the State Equestrian Centre in Brigadoon. See summary of fees payable for further details. WARM UP ARENA ETIQUETTE: As there are many horses warming up in restricted areas it is important that all riders have knowledge of the etiquette required in group riding. This ensures safe riding & achieves harmony in busy areas. safety is paramount & a collision should be avoided at all times before entering the warm-up area make sure the gateway & immediate track is clear riders should pass left shoulder to left shoulder when on the track when not on the outside track, e.g. on a diagonal line, riders should give way to horses on their left the more progressive gait has priority on the track halt should not be on the track walk should not be on the track & does not have right of way trot has priority over walk canter has priority over trot lateral work has priority over all paces when circling, anticipate your return to the track so as to not stop the flow of other riders mounting, dismounting & gear adjustment should be done off the track consideration should be given to behavior of other horses in the arena that may upset your horse it may be necessary if your horse is upsetting others to leave the area if a horse is upsetting the majority, an Official should be sought with a view to requesting that horse s removal for safety s sake Horses are to be lunged in the designated lungeing arena & the handler must wear an approved safety helmet. Lower level riders should not disturb the warm up of higher level riders. 7

8 Coaches/Parents/Pedestrians must stay out of the warm up areas to avoid injury, coaching in warmup must not disrupt other riders CODE OF CONDUCT INFORMATION CODE OF CONDUCT Members should be aware of the Aims & Objectives of Membership: To encourage young people to ride & learn to enjoy all approved kinds of sport connected with horses & riding. To provide instruction in riding, horsemastership & to instil in members the proper care of their animals. To promote the highest ideals of fellowship, citizenship & loyalty & to cultivate strength of character & selfdiscipline. Members should be aware Pony Club is a Youth movement & has always maintained a high standard of behaviour & presentation. Members should be aware if they are representing the Pony Club in any shape or form, whether it be Club, Zone, State or Country, that it is expected that their behaviour would never compromise, bring into disrepute or embarrass themselves, their Club, Zone or State Pony Club Association. Members should be proud of their involvement in the Pony Club movement & in their uniform. Members should be aware they are under scrutiny by their elders, other Associations & particularly the more junior members of the Pony Club & so should always be setting the example. CARE OF THE HORSE In all equestrian sports, the horse must be considered paramount. The wellbeing of the horse shall be above the demands of riders, coaches, owners, officials, organisers or sponsors. In the interest of the horse, the fitness & competence of the rider shall be regarded as essential. RIDER S CODE OF CONDUCT Ride by the rules. Never argue with an official. If you disagree, have your Team Manager approach the official during a break or after the competition. Control your temper. Verbal abuse of officials & sledging other riders, deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent are not acceptable or permitted behaviours in any sport. Work equally hard for yourself and/or your team. Your team's performance will benefit; so will you. Be a good sport. Applaud all good efforts whether they are by your team or the other competitors. Treat all riders as you would like to be treated. Do not interfere with, bully or take unfair advantage of another rider. Cooperate with your coach, Team mates & opponents. Without them there would be no competition. Ride for the 'fun of it' & not just to please parents & coaches. Avoid use of derogatory language. Respect the rights, dignity & worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion. 8

9 PARENT/GUARDIAN S CODE OF BEHAVIOUR Remember that children participate in sport for their enjoyment. Encourage children to participate, do not force them. Focus on the rider s efforts & performance rather than winning or losing. Encourage children always to play according to the rules & settle disagreements without resorting to hostility or violence. Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a competition. Remember that children learn best by example. Appreciate good performances & skilful plays by all participants Support all efforts to remove verbal & physical abuse from sporting activities. Respect officials decisions & teach children to do likewise. Show appreciation for volunteer coaches, officials & administrators. Without them your child could not participate. Respect the rights, dignity & worth of every young person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion. SPECTATORS CODE OF BEHAVIOUR Respect the decisions of officials & teach young people to do the same. Never ridicule or scold a young rider for making a mistake. Positive comments are motivational. Condemn the use of violence in any form, whether it is by other spectators, coaches, officials or riders. Show respect for your Team s opponents. Without them, there would be no competition. Do not use violence, harassment or abuse in any form (that is, do not use foul language, sledge or harass riders, coaches, officials or other spectators). Respect the rights, dignity & worth of every person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion. No coaching from the sidelines will be tolerated. Any breach of this will result in elimination The Championship is being run under all current PCAWA Rules and Policies 9

13 Off The Track are offering a rug & prizes to the top three placed OTT horses at the State Championships. Winner will receive an OTT embroidered rug & rosette Second place will receive a bridle with OTT browband & a ribbon Third place will receive a OTT saddle blanket & a ribbon One set of prizes is reserved for Thoroughbreds & one set for Standardbreds. Please make sure you advise your club of your horses registered ASB TB or SB name when entering this class to be in the running for the prizes! 13

15 ZONE TEAMS CHALLENGE TROPHY This competition is for Zone Teams of four Riders, as follows: OR OR 2 Riders 16 years & under & 2 Riders 17 years & over 3 Riders 16 years & under & 1 Rider 17 years & over 4 Riders 16 years & under No Team may consist of more than two Associate riders (17 years & over). The age of Riders is as at the 1 st January Zones must conduct a Qualifying Day, at which the Zone team should be selected when two tests will be ridden by each Rider. Scores are calculated by dropping the lower score Qualifying tests to be ridden are EA Novice 2.1 & Novice 2.2. Official EA Dressage or Pony Club judges must be used. All riders selected for the Zone Team must gain at least 57% in both Novice tests on the day. Zone overall placings by mean percentage If a Zone cannot arrange a Qualifying day, then they may apply in writing to the Dressage Sub Committee & consideration will be given to permitting a Zone to select a team without a qualifying event. In this case, all riders selected must have gained results of at least 57% at Novice level under an Official EA Panel or PCAWA Judge. Zones may enter a maximum of two teams, although the final number of entries will be at the discretion of the Organising Committee. Please indicate your 1 st & 2 nd teams on the entry form. In the event of withdrawal of team members from the first Zone Team Challenge, members from the second team cannot be used to replace them. In such situations the reserve riders are to be used to fill the positions. Rugs will be presented to the riders in the winning team & a Perpetual Trophy will be awarded to the Zone. Team ribbons will be presented to sixth place. Individual medallions will be awarded to 3rd place per arena. The Test to be ridden by all riders for the Final of the Zone Teams Challenge Dressage Championship will be EA Novice

16 PLUNKETT TROPHY FOR CLUB TEAMS Teams from each Pony Club, to consist of three or four members, with one only in each class - the best three scores to count. Scores to be calculated on the top three team members. Scoring will be taken from PLACINGS in each arena, with individual marks to be used in the event of a draw. Rider s age as at the 1 st January Riders will be permitted to ride above their age group but not below. Placings will be awarded to 6th place for teams, & to 6th place for individual age groups. Club overall placings to be based on points. The classes will be (one Pony Club member in each - see above) A 16 Years & over EA Novice 2.3 (Arena 1) B 14 & 15 Years EA Novice 2.2 (Arena 2) C 12 & 13 Years EA Preliminary 1.3 (Arena 3) D 11 years & under EA Preliminary 1.2 (Arena 4) Clubs may nominate 2 teams stating clearly which team is team 1 & which team 2 is. Depending upon entries received, the 2 nd team may be balloted out. Clubs may enter individuals who will be placed into composite teams where possible at the discretion of the organising committee. KANANDAH & GINGAMURRAH TROPHIES Kanandah Trophy Club team to consist of four riders years of age, Rider s age as at the 1 st January Gingamurrah Trophy Club team to consist of four riders 13 years & under, rider s age as at the 1 st January Judging The Kanandah & Gingamurrah Trophies will be judged as follows: Workout, with a separate Turnout component. The Turnout will be judged as a team & as a separate part of the overall test. All riders will still be Gear Checked. There will be two (2) Judges per team of riders judging the Turnout. The workout (2008) is to be memorised. No talking during the test. Refer to website for test sheets Gear as per the 2016 Gear Checking No martingales. Spurs may be worn. No whips permitted. A Club may nominate a maximum of two teams clearly stating Team 1 & Team 2, in the Kanandah Trophy & the Gingamurrah Trophy. The total number of entries accepted will be at the Organising Committees discretion. No member or horse may compete in both competitions. Please refer to the ground map for turnout area. Please note two times are given in draw earlier is the turn out judging. 16

17 PLUNKETT TROPHY FOR CLUB TEAMS FREESTYLES (PRELIM/NOVICE, ELEMENTARY, MEDIUM) The Freestyle competition will comprise of the following classes: Preliminary/Novice Riders 10 years & under Riders 11 13years years Riders 14 16years years Riders 17 years & Over Elementary Riders 17 years & over Riders 16 years & under Medium Members/Associates Riders must be entered in their age group only. Prelim/Novice Freestyle: Please note test updated Maximum time allowed is 4.30 minutes. Test time starts at first halt & ends at the last salute. Entry music is required with a maximum of 20 seconds. Failure to do so will incur elimination as will the inclusion of exit music. Compulsory movements not executed will score a zero. Movements must be no higher than Prelim/Nov. Movements in current EA 2009 Novice tests are allowed. Refer to website for Compulsory Movements. 19 OAKOVER TERENA MUSICAL RIDE COMPETITION Clubs may nominate one Team in each section. Individual riders may not compete in both sections. The Oakover Terena musical ride trophy will be presented to the highest scoring ride from either section. Sashes will be awarded to placegetters in both sections & costume trophies to the musical ride participants Rules Applicable to both sections: An approved Safety Helmet & Long or Short Riding Boots must be worn. For safety reasons unmounted or led participants are not permitted. All riders, having entered the arena, must remain in the arena for the duration of the routine. The Musical Rides will be held in the indoor arena at the State Equestrian Centre, & the size of the arena will be 70 metres x 30 metres. The music CD-R must be received by the PCAWA no later than 5pm Wednesday 3 rd August 2016, as we need to ensure that the CD-R are suitable for use over the PA system at the State Equestrian Centre. Please make sure that you have a spare copy of your CD-R. SECTION 1 PANTOMIME IN COSTUME (FANCY DRESS) The Ride must consist of a minimum of six & a maximum of 16 Riders & the ride is to be a minimum of 6 minutes & a maximum of 8 minutes duration, including set up time. Cantering is optional. This competition will be judged on the overall effect & theme of the ride, with consideration being given to the Work as a Team, the Music, the Choreography, the telling of the story & Costuming, Places will be presented to 6 th place for Pantomime Ride. Additional places will be awarded for costume to 6 th place. All Riders in the competition will receive a participation ribbon. SECTION 1 FORMATION RIDE TO BE RIDDEN IN FORMAL PONY CLUB UNIFORM The Ride must consist of a minimum of six & a maximum of 16 Riders & the ride is to be a minimum of 6 minutes & a maximum of 8 minutes duration, including set up time. Cantering is optional. This competition will be judged on the overall formation effect of the ride as a whole, with consideration being given to the Work as a Team, the Music, & the Choreography. Judges will be looking for teams that can maintain a good formation, distances in turns & transitions & precision throughout the ride. Places will be presented to Clubs to 6 th place. All riders in the competition will receive a participation award. 19

20 PRIX CAPRILLI The Prix Caprilli is a test which combines dressage with jumping cavalletti. Copies of the test are on the PCAWA website under Dressage. PRIX CAPRILLI TEST The test will be for pairs of RIDERS ANY AGE, HORSE/PONIES ANY HEIGHT, with each rider undertaking the same test individually, & the scores will be added together. Jumping boots may be worn. WHIPS - if carried, must have a flexible flap or tassel, must not be weighted at the end, maximum length 75cm including flap. Loop handles must be removed. Dressage whips NOT permitted. Placings will be presented to pairs of riders to sixth place. Clubs May enter a Maximum of 2 Teams ONLY. If too many entries, ballot may be required. PAS DE DEUX HORSE PAIRS & PAS DE DEUX PONY PAIRS There will be three classes, one prelim/novice for ponies 14.2h & under, the prelim/novice for horses over 14.2h & Elementary for a combination of any heights. Height certificates may be required. Placing will be awarded to 6th place. Refer to Website for the compulsory movements required. This must be ridden in Fancy Dress, although Safety Helmets & Long or Short Riding Boots are compulsory. Time starts from the first halt to the last halt.
