Once the room has been started and the ceiling-mounted LCD projector has warmed up, press the CAPTURE hard-button on the Crestron to display the appropriate touch-screen controls (see image below). In addition to being able to record video from the room s cameras, content can be recorded from the resident computer, document camera, or a connected laptop. If you wish to record content, you will need to select the appropriate hard-button (PC or LAPTOP) on the Crestron first and then press the CAPTURE hard-button. Please Note: If you wish to use the document camera, press the PC hard-button on the Crestron. You will need to load the SMART Notebook software and click the document camera icon to view the doc cam image.

2 2 of 5 P a g e Topic 1 (continued): Getting Ready to Record Touch-screen buttons for selecting your desired display mode are found in the upper left corner of the Classroom Capture Control screen. You can select from: Side By Side Content Full Screen Camera Full Screen PIP (Picture-in-Picture) If you select PIP (Picture-in-Picture), four additional touch-screen buttons will appear that allow you to select the location (Top Left, Top Right, Bottom Left, or Bottom Right) of the camera feed in the recording. The student camera is located above the door by the sink. The instructor camera and a wall-mounted LCD TV are located in the back of the room on the wall opposite the SMART Board. Normally this LCD TV mirrors the source (resident computer, document camera, laptop, etc.) selected at the Crestron. When in classroom capture mode, however, it serves as a preview of what will be recorded.

3 3 of 5 P a g e Topic 1 (continued): Getting Ready to Record In addition to the two cameras, this room is also equipped with three ceiling microphones. They are located above the lectern, in front of the SMART Board, and above the sink. Topic 2: Adjusting Audio Levels Press the Capture Audio touch-screen button, located at the bottom of the Crestron's Classroom Capture Control screen, to display the appropriate touch-screen controls (see image below). Touch-buttons are provided which allow you to control the microphone (Lectern, Ceiling L, & Ceiling R) and Capture Monitor levels from the Crestron. You will want to make sure that the levels for the microphones you are using, as well as the Capture Monitor, are set at around 85% to 90%. When you are finished adjusting the levels press the Go Back To Capture touch-screen button, which is located at the bottom of the screen. Please Note: The Classroom Volume control sets the volume of audio playing through the room speakers and does not impact the microphone level.

4 4 of 5 P a g e Topic 3: Controlling the Cameras Press either the Instructor Camera or Student Camera touch-screen button, located on the Crestron's Classroom Capture Control screen, to display the appropriate touch-screen controls for the selected camera (see images to the right). Touch-buttons are provided which allow you to adjust the camera shot. The K, J, I, and H buttons control the pan and tilt of the camera, while the Zoom Out and Zoom In buttons control the zoom. In addition, you can save six camera presets into the system. After adjusting the camera, press the SAVE touch-screen button and then press either button 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 to save the preset to the selected button. Presets will remain saved after the room is shut down. When you are finished adjusting the camera press the Go Back To Capture touch-screen button, which is located at the bottom of the screen. Topic 4: Recording IMPORTANT: Before recording be sure to select your display mode (Topic 1) and adjust the microphone levels (Topic 2) and camera (Topic 3), as needed. It is NOT recommended that you switch to a different source or switch display modes while recording, as there is a delay when switching. Insert your USB thumb drive into the USB port on the Crestron CAPTURE-HD-PRO, which is located in the lectern's equipment rack. Make sure the drive is formatted for the FAT 32 file system. After reading the USB thumb drive, the Storage Left counter on the Classroom Capture Control screen will give an indication of the amount of record time available (displayed in Hours and Minutes).

5 5 of 5 P a g e Topic 4 (continued): Recording Press the RECORD touch-screen button on the Classroom Capture Control screen to begin recording. STOP RECORD The indicator on the RECORD touch-screen button will turn red and the capture system's status will change from "Capture Idle" to "Preparing Record" and then to "Capture Recording". The Elapsed time counter (displayed in Minutes and seconds) will then start. Press the STOP touch-screen button when you are finished recording. Its indicator will turn red and the capture system's status will change from "Capture Recording" to "Please Wait..." to "Capture Stopped" and then finally back to "Capture Idle". At this point you can then remove your USB thumb drive from the Crestron CAPTURE-HD-PRO's USB port. Topic 5: Playing Recorded Video on a Computer The video recording is saved as a *.mp4 file (MPEG-4 Part 14). The associated *.xml file can be ignored or deleted. You can play the recorded video on a computer. For the best playback experience, the Media Center recommends using the VLC media player ( Both PC and Mac versions are available.
