5 Introduction SmartLock Pro Plus (SLP+) Momentary Unlock Tool is a utility included with SmartLock Pro Plus. It is designed to allow reception personnel to remotely perform Unlock Momentary commands on designated readers to allow access to noncardholders. The PC on which the Momentary Unlock Tool software is installed must be able to map a drive to the data folder of the PC running the SmartLock Pro Plus software. Requirements Momentary Unlock Tool requires a networked environment of computers. The system hosting the SmartLock Pro Plus software must be set up to share the SmartLock Pro Plus data folder with the systems which will run Momentary Unlock Tool. Page 5 of 28

6 Setup Setting up a network share and installing the software can be accomplished by following the steps outlined below (note experience setting up network shares is a requirement and may require assistance from your IT staff). SHARING THE PRO PLUS DATA FOLDER NOTE: On Windows 7 & 8, the ProgramData folder is hidden by default. Follow the steps below to unhide the ProgramData folder. On Windows 7: Using the Windows Explorer, navigate to your PC s C Drive. On the toolbar at the top of the window, click Organize -> Layout -> Menu Bar. Page 6 of 28

7 You will now have access to a second toolbar at the top of the window. Click on Tools -> Folder Options. The Folder Options window will appear. Click on the View tab, and in the Advanced settings: list find the Hidden files and folders heading, then select the option Show hidden files, folders, and drives. After you have selected this setting, click OK. Page 7 of 28

9 On Windows 8: Using the File Explorer, navigate to your PC s C Drive. On the toolbar at the top of the window, click on the View tab, and tick off the box beside Hidden items. You will now be able to see the ProgramData folder. Sharing the Pro Plus Data Folder: Share the parent folder of the SmartLock Pro Plus data folder on the system running SmartLock Pro Plus. Using the File Explorer (Windows Explorer in Windows 7), browse to the parent folder which is typically "C:\ProgramData\Cansec\Smartlock Pro Plus" (Windows 7 & 8) or C:\Program Files\Cansec Systems Ltd\Smartlock Pro Plus (Windows XP & 2000). 10 Right click on the folder and select the Properties menu item, then click on the Sharing tab. Click on the Advanced Sharing button. Check off the Share this folder option, then click Apply. Click on Permissions. Page 10 of 28

11 Check off the permissions boxes that say Change and Read, then click OK. The Permissions window will close. Back on the Advanced Sharing window, click OK. Page 11 of 28

12 MAPPING A NETWORK DRIVE Map the shared SmartLock Pro Plus data folder on the PC you want to install SLP+ Momentary Unlock Tool on. Open the File Explorer (Windows Explorer in Windows 7), click on Computer (called This PC in Windows 8.1), then click on Map Network Drive. Type in the folder path (in the format \\computername\shared folder *), or browse to the folder and select it by clicking the Browse button. Make sure the box beside Reconnect at sign-in is checked off. * Replace computername with the name of the PC running SmartLock Pro Plus, and shared folder with the name of the shared SmartLock Pro Plus data folder on that PC. 13 INSTALLING THE MOMENTARY UNLOCK TOOL SOFTWARE NOTE: If you are running Windows 7 or 8, you may need to follow the following procedure in order for the shared Pro Plus folder to show up during SLP+ Momentary Unlock Tool installation. The following steps are to be done on the PC which you intend to install the Momentary Unlock Tool software on. From your Start Menu, select Run. Type in regedit and click OK to open the Registry Editor. Page 13 of 28

14 Navigate your way to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows \CurrentVersion\Policies\System. Page 14 of 28

15 In the pane on the right, right click and scroll from New to DWORD (32-bit) Value and click on it. Name the new entry EnableLinkedConnections. Page 15 of 28

16 Right click on the entry you just named and click on Modify. Change Value data to 1. Click OK. Reboot your PC for these changes to take effect. Page 16 of 28

17 Installing the Software Run the SLP+ Momentary Unlock Tool installation file and you will be greeted with the first step of the installation process. Click Next. Page 17 of 28

18 Click Next to install the program to the default installation folder, typically "C:\Program Files\Cansec Systems Ltd\SLP+ Momentary Unlock Tool" (32- bit version of Windows) or C:\Program Files (x86)\cansec Systems Ltd\SLP+ Momentary Unlock Tool (64-bit version). Or, click Change, then browse to and select a different location to install the software to. Click Next to proceed. Page 18 of 28

19 Select the location of the SmartLock Pro Plus data folder. If Pro Plus was installed on the PC you are installing Momentary Unlock Tool on, select Local Installation. If Pro Plus was installed on a different PC, select Network Installation. Click Next to proceed. Page 19 of 28

20 Click Change to browse to and select the parent folder of the SmartLock Pro Plus data folder. If Pro Plus was installed on the same PC you are installing Momentary Unlock Tool on, the default location of the folder is typically "C:\ProgramData\Cansec\Smartlock Pro Plus" (Windows 7 & 8) or C:\Program Files\Cansec Systems Ltd\Smartlock Pro Plus (Windows XP & 2000). If Pro Plus was installed on a different PC than the one you are installing Momentary Unlock Tool on, click Change to browse to and select the SmartLock Pro Plus folder you mapped in the previous steps. Click OK to select the mapped folder. Once you have selected the SmartLock Pro Plus data folder, click Next to proceed. Page 20 of 28

22 The software installation has completed successfully. Click Finish. Momentary Unlock Tool SETTING UP MOMENTARY UNLOCK TOOL Before the Momentary Unlock Tool (MUT) software can be run, it must be configured from within the SmartLock Pro Plus software. 1. In the Pro Plus software, go to File -> Setup. Page 22 of 28

23 The Configuration window will appear. Check off the box beside TCP/IP Port for MUT Tool. The default TCP/IP Port used by Momentary Unlock Tool & Pro Plus is This Port number can be changed if it is already in use. Click OK when finished. 2. In the Pro Plus software, go to File -> MUT Configuration. Page 23 of 28

24 The MUT Configuration window will appear. Select the reader or readers you want the Momentary Unlock Tool to be able to control. Click OK when finished. 3. Run the SLP+ Momentary Unlock Tool software and click on Settings. Input the IP address of the PC running Pro Plus. If you are not using the default Port number 7000, change it to match the Port number you assigned in Step 1. Click OK. Page 24 of 28

25 You will need to restart the program for the changes to take effect. USING MOMENTARY UNLOCK TOOL The Momentary Unlock Tool s main window will display the reader(s) that this program has been given permission to control. Page 25 of 28

26 NOTE: If you run the Momentary Unlock Tool software before assigning the readers that this program can control, you will see the following screen: Follow the instructions in the hint on the right side of the application window, or in the previous section of this operator guide, to select the readers that this program will be able to control. 27 To perform a Momentary Unlock command, select the reader you wish to control by clicking on it, then click the Momentary Unlock button. You will see the icon beside the reader name change, indicating that the door has been momentarily unlocked. The icon will change back to when the door has relocked. PRO PLUS SOFTWARE STATUS You can tell if SmartLock Pro Plus is running from within the Momentary Unlock Tool software. Each time Momentary Unlock Tool is run the status bar will display Connecting to Pro Plus. Page 27 of 28

28 After about 10 seconds, the message will change to Pro Plus is running. or Pro Plus is not running. depending on whether the software is running or not. NOTE: If you see the following message upon running the Momentary Unlock Tool, it could be because the SmartLock Pro Plus software is not running, or because of an issue with one of the other settings listed in the message.
